With the recent events, would you be more supportive of conceal carry?

Was hoping to get some feed back and poll data on this board.

(obviously conceal/carry wouldnt have done nothing to stop this attack.)

Definately, it would make it much easier to shoot down hostile hijacked airplanes.

This is a different subject entirely and has nothing to do with what happened today.

But since you posted a poll I have always been for the right to carry a handgun legally.

I'm not relating the two other than the fact that would it change your mind about conceal/carry in regards to terrorist attacks on the USA.

Other than that question, no they are not related.

Try hijacking a plane with one hundred armed passengers.

I don't think you'll ever see that, but I would like to see Air Marshels brought back. Highly trained, armed personnel on US flights, civillian clothed of course.

I HAVE to respond to this.

The hijackers smuggled firearms or explosixves or whatever onto the aircraft, which is already AGAINST THE LAW. This is illegal to do whether concealed firearms carrying is legal on the ground or not. Maybe if a law abiding citizen had carried a weapon onto the plane this whole mess could have been prevented.

HMMMMMMMM????????

Just like what would happen if you outlawed guns, then only criminals would have guns. These terrorists would NEVER have been prevented from carrying weapons onto the plane no matter how many laws you liberal fucking idiots pass. They are breaking the laws that are already in place, and they haven't stopped the terrorists. Why sacrifice more of my freedom so you can have a warm and fuzzy feeling. Wake up asshole.

OK TWO THINGS THEN I AM GOING TO ARESST THE CRACKHEADS.
FIRST I KNOW YOU DID NOT MEAN ON PLANES BUT I HAVE HAD SPECIAL TRAINING ON FLYING ARMED AND I WOULD IN NO WAY WANT A CITIZEN NOT SPECIALLY TRAINED TO FIRE WEAPON ON THE PLANE. MORE THAN LIKELY THIS WOULD CAUSE A CRASH.
SECOND CARRYING CONCEALED HAS TWO SIDES TO IT. YES IN CLOSE ENCOUNTERS WITH A ONE ON ONE SITUATION YOU MAY HIT THE PERSON LIKE A MUGGER ETC OR YOU MAY JUST AGRAVATE YOURSELF INTO GETTING KILLED. IF SOMEONE IS WITHIN 21 FEET OF YOU WITH A KNIFE YOU WILL GET STABBED BEFORE YOU CAN SHOOT THEM AND GET OUT YOUR WEAPON. UNLESS YOU HAVE A LOT OF TRAINING. SECOND UNDER STRESS A TRAINED OFFICER WILL SHOOT ONLY 50% OF HIS NORMAL SO IN NO WAY SHOULD A CITIZEN BE SHOOTING AT PEOPLE WITH CIVILIANS AROUND. IT IS A TOSS UP. GREAT FOR HOME PROTECTION AND THE PERFECT STREET SETTING BUT NOT AS GREAT AS MANY OF YOU THINK.

I had a buddy of mine who is a police officer (full time sworn) tell me that he can't even take his gun onto a plane. I'm sure the outcome would of been different if cops who are off duty and going on vacation where allowed to carry their guns onto planes...I always thought that a cop could carry his gun anywhere in the country at anytime.. he told me there are some states where he could get arrested for carrying his firearm off duty.. that is ridiculous. I think full time sworn police officers should be allowed to carry concealed firearms ANYWHERE in the United States (on land, air or sea) just my thoughts

well almost anyone without a felony record can get one in nevada. thousands of people in vegas has concealed weapon permits and this town is full of crimes, violence etc. that not many hear about. so in reality i doubt it.

Fucking Idiots.

No guns on planes for ANYONE. Period.

Tighten airport security. REALLY TIGHTEN IT.

That's the solution.

Thanks MK I was waiting for someone to say that. Do you people honestly think the FAA would allow passengers to be fully armed?? thats the most ridiculous thing I have ever heard in my entire life. All of the "Air Rage" incidents would turn into "Air Disasters".

Nice choice Oak.

I agree with Mk & Natymike. Even though a very, very small minority of civilians have the skill to accurately fire a handgun aboard a plane and NOT cause the situation to get worse (e.g. puncturing the aircraft, hitting an innocent or another part of the plane), but actually hit their target, allowing concealed weapons aboard aircraft is a very bad idea.

I do, however, think police officers (on duty or off) being allowed to carry and air marshalls are a good idea. That would be both a deterrent to hijackers and possibly save lives as it very well may have yesterday.

im just waiting to see some rat bastards celebrating here, thats it man bat time, and if they come to the house of its on

In the state of TX I'm of Age to apply for a license to carry a concealed weapon. There are rules and regulations that must be followed here inorder to carry, considering I'm going into the military very shortly you can bet your ass if it's still legal when I get out or if I get out then I will be packing when possible

Just to clear one thing up, I never said for a civillian to carry on a plane. I said a highly trained gov. officer. believe me when I say their are people w/ the skill to carry it off. I myself went through exstinsive training while w/ USMC Sec. Force Bat. Fast Co. for instence are a group that this time of handgun training. I also have trained at gunsite. It could be done. now I don't thinmk it will happen and agree airport sec. should be overly tightened.

It is our right to protect and carry firearms. Our founding fathers thought that this was so important that the put it in writing.

But it is not wise to allow anyone with a firearm on a plane, for safety reason.

1. Make the cockpit a secure area. Locked. Bulletproof. With its on power supply and air supply.

2. Set aside 1-5% of the planes seats for any Law enforcement officers or Military members. These type's of people have some training and would be more willing to put thier own life on the line.

Where I live we have had concealled carry permits for years, and wonder of wonder, the crime rate is down. Drive by shootongs are rare. So I would say yes to concealled carry, even the Mayor of the near by large city supports concealled carry, and she's from New York her self. To bad the rest of the USA doesn't have that right legally.

In Arizona you can carry openly, no need to conceal. I like that idea.

We should do that too.

I have seen this lunacy posted a few times since the disaster.

What does happen if a bullet penetrates the cabin of a plane?

A loss of cabin pressure that would force the plane to land safely, but flight could be sustained for quite some time.

What would you rather have, a slight drop in cabin pressure after a bullet tavels through a towel, then olive skin, then some worthless substandard persons head, then out through the cabin of the plane, OR have the plane crash into an enormous building killing thousands?

What's up Ryker, nice post. The secure cabin would have been KEY in preventing this mess.
