How do you approximate the caloric contents of a mixed food?

For instance when eating soup, hamburger, pizza, or other foods that you can't dissamble or weight, how do you figure out the approximate value?

A slice of pizza is relative to what you put on it for instance, and to how much it weights.

Any good tricks welcome.

You should be able to approx values from the manufacturers of the pizza, soup etc, if its bought from a store.

If it is from a fast food vendor you should be able to find details on the web.

I just did a search on Google for "pizza hut nutrition" and found lots of URLs including the one below:

http://www.pizzahut.com/menu/nutrition/pizza_handtoss.htm

I did another search using keywords "mcdonalds nutrition" and got plenty of URLs including the one below:

http://www.mcdonalds.com/countries/usa/food/nutrition_facts/

Hope this helps. :)

guess the mass and density of the food a low estimate would be the mass times 4c/g a high would be *9c/g. always estimate high, look on the internet , there are comparason charts like, hamburger the volume of a tennis ball may range from x to y calories......
but unfortuantly everything has more calories than you estimate.......
