I'll get a message on Yahoo IM from someone saying what ru doing? Or is this you or your daughter? I'm wondering, how in the hell do they know that I'm actually on the computer? I rarely turn it off so I would think I'm always signed on. I don't mean to be rude, I'm just in the middle of doing something and don't want to talk to someone at the moment.

i think it shows you as "NOT idle" which means that someone or something has shaken the mouse within the last 10 or so minutes meaning someone is probably on the computer. when you ARE idle (away from comp for over 10-15min) your name should go a grey shade and say idle so people know no one is there.

if you dont have it set to away then it will show you as online. if you walk away from your computer, after a few minutes it automatically goes to away. but when you come back it switches to online. so if they send you a message because you are online, the truth to them is you are ignoring them. just set it to away if you dont want to be bothered. just be sure you dont do it when they are online because it will show you switched it so you dont have to talk to them

Yes and thank you. It's like your phone ringing and the person knowing that you know it's them and that you are there and just don't want to answer it. I wouldn't get too offended as sometimes we just don't want to be bothered when we're in the middle of doing something. I don't like that kind of intrusion. lol People should not know if you are actually on the computer.
