Keep in mind every it's a negative point everytime somebody checks your credit so don't apply for credit that you really don't want.

you can get a report from equifax.com for under $10 or if you've recently been turned down for credit you can get it for free

Yes - just what CheeseDick said.

Also, however, if you're looking to clear up items on your credit report, a company called Clear Credit can send in the papers for you with no hassle! There are fees involved in this, but if you can get crap off of your report (late thingies, etc), then your score will increase and the little bit of money spent is WELL WORTH IT.

It may take a few rounds and thus charges each time they send in the dispute . . . but the charges aren't much (it depends on the # of items that you dispute).
