How do drafts work?

Would they just send people where needed or would you get to pick which branch you wanted to serve in?

nope you dont get to select where you go. in most sports the team with the worst record from the year before gets the number 1 pick and so on. except in basketball where they have a lottery and they put a bunch of ping pong balls in a case and draw for which team gets the first pick. if you just got to pick where you could go it would be pointless because there would be 1 or 2 teams stacked every year duh

I don't think you get to choose which branch. During the Gulf War selective services had planned to start drafting (in case the draft was re-instated) 20 year olds first then continue drafting up to 25 as needed. If more were still needed they were then going to start drafting 18 and 19 year olds.

alot of 18 and 19 year olds have been getting drafted in basketball lately actually. i think 3 of the top 6 picks this year were just out of high school...the number one pick was 18 years old.

Now for drafting people, that is another thing. I think it has something to do with the juggular vein in the neck. Messy any way you look at it.
