Here's an easy one:

Take a bolt and a nut, screw the nut on a few threads, put some matchhead sulphur in the space, take a second bolt and screw it in the nut, packing the sulfur tight. Now when you throw it in the ground the jolt should cause the packed sulfur to explode, with the bolts acting as shrapnel.

I saw a newspaper article the other day about some kid who blew himself up after trying to make a bomb with the information he got from the internet.

It's probably not a good idea to give this kind of advice on the internet.

I did that one once when I was a kid and almost got myself killed. We found some really big bolts from a construction site and we ended up messing up my friends balcony. We stood on the 2nd floor and dropped it and the sucker flew right at us hitting the balcony. It could have easily hit us...

Black powder in a pipe works pretty well. You can buy cannon fuse in fifty foot rolls at gun shows. Don't fuck with the fuse- homemade ones have a tendency to burn inconsistently if they're not made right. Traumatic amputation is not what you're shooting for here.

You can make a bunch of small ones real quick if you take impty CO2 cartridges, drill out the opening and funnel gun powder into them. Stick a fuse in their and you're good to go. If you seal the opening with wax you can throw them in the water. It's pretty neat.

I'm a farm boy so when I was a kid we were always pretty bored. I found an old box of blasting caps in the barn when I was about 13 and it was all down hill from there. I made electric igniters with thin strands of wire, match heads and electrical tape. Pipe bombs made from gunpowder extracted from shotgun shells, oxy/aceteline bombs, paper wrapped match head bombs, dry ice bombs...

I experimented with mercury fulminate a bit.

I love things that go boom.

Used to use the matchhead trick with a tennis ball.

Slice the tennis ball open about 1/3 of the way so that when you squeeze it, it looks like pac man. fill it full of match head.

Throw it reallly hard and far.

Boom.
