I realise that everyone is freaked out and scarred because they feal that we could soon be in a holy war with the middle east, but lets not forget the resolve of the United States has only really been tested once, by the Japanese.
Now i don't know if you would call what the japanese did a "holy war", but these people committed suicide rather then be taken prisoner, they had suicide bombers, etc....hell they built planes that were nothing more then bombs with wings. Now we all know what happened to them in the end.
Therefore why do should we expect this conflict to end with a different result. Albeit that Afganistan, the Taliban and global terrorism present a completely different enemy, but i think the resolve of the entire western world has been galvanized into one and that enemies of the west should be afraid.
Not to say that there won't be troubles again, but i just think that perhaps this is a fight that they won't win.
