OK... Yesterday was last day of diet, so I had a huge bindge, so I took about 2500mg of ALA with it. 15 minutes later I felt so fucking tired.. I went to sleep... I woke up after many hours, ate something and took another 2000mg of ALA. Went to sleep again... Total sleep time = 19 hours (with one hour of being awake in between).. I suspect it's the ALA.. Gee. I never slept that good in a while!

I dont think ALA induces sleep... I may be wrong on this-- but usually when I take ALA with a carb meal, i get more energy since It's being shuttled out into the bloodstream quicker to be used as fuel.

But, however, You may get 'sleepy' due to the large carbohydrate binge, since causes an insulin spike, but you took ala with it..... i dont know... bump for more feedback.

I've been using ALA with piracetam as a nootropic stack and can definitely say that taking ALA without any carbs makes you VERY sleepy. So now I always supply small amount of carbs with this combo.

hmm.... I will certainly give this a try-- bumping up my ala dosages at w/ my night time carb intake.

I believe the standerized ala intake for 30g of carbs is about 300-400mg? Am I correct?

So that is why my head falls on my keyboard after breakfast at work....

Taking a lofty dose of any glucose disposal agent & ingesting no carbs will just lead to your body clearing what little glucose is already circulating in your blood stream and make you go slightly hypoglycemic, hence tired. Ingenious plan, in the future if you want to sleep for a real prolonged time then make sure to sport some insulin next time, same idea but will make your measly 19 hours look like a power nap. Also just so your aware of this, depriving your brain of glucose before sleep may not be the best idea.

The reason why you get so tired after taking ALA is due to the fact that it clears glucose from your bloodstream very rapidly. This is a product of it's insuling sensitising effects which in turn allow more of that carbohydrate(glucose) you just ingested to make way into the muscle cells. The brain and central nervous system are glucose hogs, if you will, so when you expiditiously remove glucose from the bloodstream and divert it into the muscle cells there is little left for you nervous system...which is the ultimate controller of alertness and wakefullness.

Same here...I can't take more than 250mg to each meal nowadays, more than that and I will fall asleep anywhere

Well it doesn't make sense to me. This 'EXTREME' tiredness has happened to me 3 or 4 times so it was no coinceidence. In all times however, I had HUGE Carbos containing meals. Huge amounts of sugars as well, so I DID take ALA with plenty of carbs. I think the meal I was talking about was actually about 550 grams of carbs. I took about 2000mg of ALA along with it. And had 2 more meals like that this binding day. It would be nice to know the 5000mg of ALA I took that day made all the bad sugars get into my muscle cells, but that couldn't be the case.. Unless I was two times coleman or something.. lol

Ambien, I take those at night. Any doctor will give them to you.

3 10mg pills and you will sleep a solid eight hours. When you wake up, you will be as good as new

try some p-7 it helps me get some really good sleep

Yeh, P-7 will do you in as well, but like sk* pointed out, albeit indirectly, any time you rapidly clear glucose from the system as insulin, glucophage, and ALA will do; you will get lethargic.

wtf, i bet if i starve myself i will pass out eventually and sleep rela good to, thats your logic, no glucose= low brina energy=low rem sleep

good point there nice6pac I wouldnt use ala as a pre-bedtime drug... you need energy to sleep! and for growth as well.
