High BP & leaky kidney?

TJ4

New member
Hey guys I just got blood work done and I have a BP of about 130/90 and I'm young, I'm only 26. My doc said I had small amounts of protein in my urine that could be due to a defective kidney? Aren't athletes supposed to exctrete a little anyway or no? I did my first cycle of AS a couple of years ago and have been clean since and I had perfect BP and everything then. I did have a lot of bloat when I was on and I used the aromatase inhibitors and everything as well. I dunno, I was just worried about possible diabetes and all that stuff and my blood work results come back soon, any docs on here that could help me out? :worried: Thanks for the help bros.

Dude, you HAVE a doctor. Talk to him. Look at the kind of advice you would get here if you asked about picking up chicks -- you're going to trust your life and health to THESE people!?

Dude, like I said my results are not in yet and just wanted to see if anyone knew anthing or had experience with this. I did talk to my doctor for a while, all I wanted were other opinions because I didn't know how common this was. I will pretend you didn't think I was that much of a clueless dumbass. Thanks for the reply though.

Normally, protein is not found in the urine as the kidneys are able to keep it within the blood stream. If, however, your protein intake is very high then there is the possibility that protein may be detected in your urine even if your kidneys are functioning normally. Alternatively, this could be the sign of numerous health issues which are not worth mentioning based on what information you have so far. Best advice is to wait for your test results to come back and go from there.

Expanding on what Digger mentioned, the advice you will get here is only as good as the information which you post up in your question. The info about 'picking up chicks' though is gold. :D

what matters is the quantity of protein found in the urine

there are physiological causes for a low amount of proteint in the urine, such as orthostatic (standing up for prolonged periods of time), exercise etc

What I would think pertinant is a quantification orf the amount of proeinuria via dipstick (+,++ or +++) as a rough guide. Then your physician will be able to choose as to whether he feels re-checking at another time is appropriate or a 24hr urine collection is more appropriate.

Protien goes into a metabolic 'pool', so that which isnt activly used 'should' be mataboilised. A high intake of it isnt as far as my 'cereal box' knowledge of medicine goes a cause of proteinuria. So....sit tight, wait 4 the reuslt and see what your physician says

Ah, but on the other side of the cereal box, lol, it goes on to say that the possibility of proteinuria would exist if protein in the urine was at abnormally high levels. The point I was mentioning was that if your protein intake was very high, which in turn caused protein levels within your blood to become high, then there is the possibility that protein may be detected in your urine. The jump from this to proteinuria would be a huge leap as there are, but not always, other associated symptoms.. You are correct though in stating that normally the protein is re-absorbed and that there are many other conditions which this could be associated with.

True, i only meant with abnormally high levels of protein in the blood, a normally functioning nephron shouldnt really be leaking more than 1+ of protein into the urine (I forget what the g/L value is per '+') since its designed to keep in the macromolecules in the ultrafiltration .

Your first void of the day often has some protein in it. What time of morning did you see your physician?

What was your creatinine? If it's within normal limits, then I wouldn't worry about it too much. Just have everything rechecked in 6 months.
