You DO NOT want to take any medications that lower your blood pressure if you dont have high values normally. The problem with this is when you sleep your bp is going to lower and with bp medications it will bottom you out with could very well cause some serious problems or death. For anyone who works in a hospital this is pretty much common knowldge. You have to look at the situation and understand what is causing the increase in your bp when you are on AS. Usually with most people the problem is fluid retention. When you take AS your body in most cases will not rid itself of excess fluid like normal. Subsequently this causes an overall increase in blood volume in your body. Now with this excess in volume you body has presso-receptors that recognize the what is going on and stimulate your heart to work harder to try to pump the fluid out which in tern will usually cause an enlargment. Alot of other stuff happens to try to compensate, but the problem still remains that you have TOO MUCH FLUID in your body. Usually a diuretic is used when someone has excess fluid such as this, but if you dont know what you are doing with those, you can really get into trouble also. There are different classes of diuretics, the most common being potassium sparing and non-potassium sparing. You want a diuretic that is not going to deplete your body of the potassium that is vital to withstand life. Aldactone (spironolactone) is a good choice and is relativley safe. A lot of guys use Lasix (furosimide) but it is not potassium sparing and can be pretty dangerous if you dont know what you are doing. Sorry this is so long, but this isnt really something I can explain in a few words. PM if you need help with any of this
