When I lived home, I bought a little safe from wal mart. Put all my gear in it. It locks and no worries. I think it costed about $20 and it was fire proof. So if your house burns down, you will still have your gear

In boxes, put those boxes in drawers or in the back of your closet... That's what I do... they'd find it if they were extremely nosey, but if you arent with some random roommate and you have a friend as your roomie most likely he wont be snooping thorugh your drawers or the back of your closet..
