How long ago did you start your training? Looking strong.

The first time I lifted weights in a gym was about 18 years ago. I didn't start powerlifting until about 11 years ago and I started competing in strongman four years ago. Although I pretty much didn't train regularly from dec '01 to nov '07 due to my job. I've got five months of solid training in a row, for the first time in over six years, so far this year.

Thats cool. I'm going to spend this year bulking up and try to get myself ready for a local strongman comp. next year. :chomp:

My best advice to you is to start competing ASAP. Don't try and get strong and then learn the events. Get stronger while competing and practicing the events. Also you will learn so much at the comps, especially from the other competitors. If you get lucky one or more pro will show up and most of them love helping out and giving advice to newcomers. The amatuer shows have multiple weight classes (under 200, 200-235, 235-265, 265-300, 300 and up) so you'll compete with people close to your own size.

Also if you ever have any questions on training or whatever let me know.

Cheers,
