Hey lean people

other than wearing layers and layers of clothes to stay warm and look deceivingly fat, how else do you cope with the cold.

Yes, I am cold.

I found a portable electric heater thing. So what I did was make a fort around the computer desk, thus transforming my work space into a command center, and am now surrounded by couch cushions, pillows and bedsheets and have placed the heater inside my newly formed castle. Now, similar to dinosaur eggs grown in human captivity, I am incubating.

do fat people really stay that much warmer???

it makes sense because if you got a ton of fat in your midsection all that blood is going to be warmer going to your extremeties.

I believe so, I'm naturally cold blooded.. but it was even worse when I was dieting right before comp and my body fat was really low. Right now I'm a bit thicker and I can tolerate the cold alot better. I have a nice layer of fat covering my entire body.. :worried:

One of the primary reasons for fat, other than energy storage...which is essentially heat storage, is for insulation.

So yeah, they are that much warmer. That's why they always sweat and look like the greasy lardo's like they do.

tee hee

I'm always freezing. It doesn't really matter how much I wear but I'm usually all bundled up...even in the summer. Air conditioning makes me freeze.

I'm like an environmental conformer.

When it gets cold, so do I. When it get's hot, so do I. It's horrible because it's ALWAYS the extremes with me. Never middle ground.

Grow a beard to keep your face warm and a mullet to warm your neck.

I cant grow a full beard and doubt that I ever will. I have some genes in me from a certain culture that make that so. Then again, I also have genes from another culture that should technically turn me in sasquatch...so really, it's up in the air.

A cottage cheese and tuna mix hijack?

That's the first.

Oh well, I'm a pretty big hijacker myself. Here on ef of course...

Define lean...my last gas bill went from $60.00 in Dec to $115.00 in Jan with the thermo on 69..now it's down to 62 and I'm freezing my not so proverbial ass off...

it's funny, down here when it gets to 50 deg. you see people in huge coats, gloves, hats, the whole nine yards. While i'm walking around in jeans and a t-shirt, sometimes shorts.

and speaking of freezing, I just had my arm sitting on an ice pack, and when I moved it, my skin was frozen. I could literally pinch my skin and it would stay standing up. It was funny looking.

Werewolf maybe?? :lmao:

To a certain extent I'm lucky - cuz I'm pretty warm-blooded - have to wear short sleeve shirts in winter cuz with the heat on I'm way TOO HOT. But I do have my chilly moments.....

I are SKINNY and get real cold now. Used to just burn energy enough to never notice, but now, COLD.

Find a stupid looking hat that can keep you warm. 50% to 70% of all body heat goes out the top. So, get a skull cap.

Wear some loose mountian bike insulated gloves. You know, no finger tips on them? That will keep your hands warm.

Inside? Find a light or medium Polypro thermal under garment, especially for the top, instead of a T shirt.

WOOL ! pants are warm. FLANNEL shirts are warm too. Love the big heavey LL Bean Shammy shirts. THICK and WARM.

Finally, insulated shoes/boots or WOOL POly sox. wicks the moisture and warms the feet.

Tell the f'n boss to turn the f'n heat up.

I am very lean, but rarely get cold. I do live in San Diego though :)

But even when snowboarding, my body seems to radiate heat.. high metabolism maybe?
