I tried, but I couldn't figure out how to "PM myself".
ive accidentally pmd myself before
so it works to pm yourself
you just get a pm that says "you have received a pm from yourself"

its sad to say
but im not joking :worried:

although not as common in current usage, "pm myself" cannot be considered wrong. further, it's clear what she was saying. i don't get you, unless this is meant to be a "joke", without a "point."

it is incorrect usage of the term. would you say to someone "If you have any questions, please call myself"??? No. You have lost the plot.

i am precisely disagreeing with you, bor.

myself is a pronoun, just like me. in the example you give up above, most would probably would not approve of such usage. some would. my impression is that such usage has decreased over time, but it cannot be considered "wrong."

what about the phrase "please call either myself or my associate at XXX-XXXX...." ?

never heard anything like that? the usage is there, bro. i ain't wrong.

yes i agree
myself is used as me, but in proper use:)

to be more clear, many people would consider that wrong, so in truth i can't blame KB et al. for commenting on it. i don't have a problem with it, but ultimately the question of "right" or "wrong" isn't always easy to answer because of the complex and dynamic nature of language. and, of course, there is no central authority which determines the correctness of utterances in a certain language. still, if we want to separate what is grammatically correct from what is not, then we must use some method. and so consensus becomes necessary.

however, usage is always evolving, changing. there are a significant number who would approve SK's usage in other times and places. considering that, i would not necessarily dismiss her phrase as flat-out wrong. perhaps uncommon, though.
