Did the little package help with motivation, and do you now know what must be worked on from a mental as well as physical standpoint...??

Luck to you my friend, hope it helped alot....

Peace,

Ranger

Ranger, I sent you a pm yesterday about it. get it?

Basically, it was both motivating and intimidating. And it does give me an idea of what I need to work on. I guess the main thing other than physical conditioning is to REALLY get land navigating down. I'm sure I'll get fairly good at it in OCS but I'll be sure to study and practice a lot.

On another thread, someone said Ranger school doesn't require anything superhuman, it just sucks to go through. I saw that in the video. None of those guys looks particulary huge or superhuman. Everyone looked in shape but the most important thing was not to give up. And to have perfectly broken in boots and tough feet.

So do you get to wear whatever boot you want? Do you have to wear standard issue combat boots? I'm just wondering if I should keep and break in my standard issue boots or if I should go buy some wicked nice after market ones.

I've had several friends that went through when I was in, it's all about mental capability. Obviously the better shape you're in the easier it will be but, it's definately not set up for failure. Nothing in the Army is.

In Hoo-wah school you will wear Army Issue my friend...and yes, Matt put it into perfect words.." It plain sucks " no other words for it...

I can help you with Land Nav, it's not too hard once you learn a few tricks of the trade and have a really good pace count....

Ranger, what was the worse land nav you did? I did my PLDC in Korea, that was a bitch! Nothing but resections & terrian identification.

Also Fro....start learning knots, it'll help you out big time in Mountain Phase...square knot, square knot and 2 half hitches, single butterfly, double butterfly, round turn and 2 half hitches, bolin, bolin on a bite, swiss and german seats, etc. I'm sure you get the picture....

We did one in Recon school, each point was at least 2 klicks long and all of them were just yellow ammo can on a tree...inside each one was a task you had to perform....all of this was timed, and there were 10 points to the whole course....that one was a bitch....alot of inter-section type problems, and at times you had to use a back azimoth(sp)....really put your skills to work.....
