We Must Never Forget that

The United States helped plan and produce these attacks, that the War in Iraq was a personal plight for Daddy and that the good ol US of A is frowned upon by many respected countries and human beings of every creed, fantastic job, my hero for the day is Mighty Mouse.

some would call him a coward

(not saying I don't appreciate the armed forces)

After watching the video clip, it reminded me of the reason why I re-enlisted in the armed forces. In 1987 I joined the Marine Corps, not to fight the "enemy" or receive medals. I joined to lift myself out of the lowest point in my life and start rebuilding for myself and my family. Fast forward to 2002. Some people thought I was crazy to re-enlist in the Army Reserves and to be a military police officer, especially after being out of the Corps for 10 yrs. Watching this video clip brought it all back. I joined the Corps to help myself and my family, but I joined the Army for my country. That's how I explain myself to those people who said I was crazy.

The cowardice would be what?

Not saying he is a coward, but he finds out he has a life threataning illness, he goes off to war where you can pretty much get yourself killed if you want and die a hero, rather than coming back and fighting, and possibly losing and seeing the pain in his loved ones as he wastes away and dies a shadow of his former self rather than as a hero on the battlefield.

Remember I am just presenting an opposing viewpoint, the guy has more guts than I will ever have to go to war and I admire anyone who does.

The word coward does not fit this guys description at all, where you came up with that I don't know.

A.W. was a good dude...If you ever see the History Channel's real story of Black Hawk Down, he has quite a few speaking roles of his point of view of what went on....

Actually Tuc, I understand what you are trying to say, but you must understand the bond that grows among men and women placed in Units such as these....It truly is hard to comprehend, unless you have felt and shared such a life long bond....JMO.

Fair enough, I know what bonds are like though, they can become very strong.

Pamela, thanks for that reminder. I had to wipe the tear from my eyes at my desk. I have always been taught to love my country and even though I dont agree with everything our government does, I love my country.

The asses we have kicked since 9/11 were well deserving IMO. I salute the men and women who lost loved ones on 9/11, I support the firemen, police, and brave patrons who helped who they could before they died.

Because I love my country I feel the pain from 9/11. If my wife got killed at work like that, or my sons were firemen and died trying to help I would be devastated. My heart goes out to them and may God Bless America.

One final point, memories like this make it very hard to accept people who express ignorant opinions regarding these attacks (like Havoc and 2thick have expressed).
