You better hope it aint a brown recluse your flesh will rot a hole

It looks nothing like a brown recluse bite lol. Brown recluse bites look a bit like tick bites with a bullseye appearance. Plus, as people have stated, there are no brown recluse spiders that far north.

Honestly, hd, that's a pretty impressive bite. You won't die, lol, but I'd watch it closely for infection. I honestly don't even think you need to go see a doctor unless the swelling doesn't go down at all in a few days, or it gets red and the skin feels warm to the touch.

I know it's not a recluse bite, I just wanted to scare the living shit out of him for some twisted reason.

you will know if its a brown recluse when the scab starts opning more and more till ya have a crateer there... You get a thorn or something stab in ya and break off? Looks pretty swole for a simple bite

What an insect or spider's sting/bite will do varies from person to person. I can get stung by red wasp without any swelling or much pain. Then again, there are people who have to be rushed to the emergency room if they are stung by the same wasp. Some can get bitten by one of the dangerous spiders and get nothing more than an itchy rash, while others get a major wound, and occasionally a few even die from the same bite, even though this more rare than people often make it out to be.

A brown recluse bite on the heel caused me to get a crater which turned my entire sock yellow with pus and started a fever and stiffness all the way up my leg to the knee. Fortunately for me it's a subject that I've always been interested in, and I knew how to treat it myself and in time. Missed three days work, had fever and shakes, but I recovered with no scar and without ever having to go see a doctor.

In toronto, the only "dangerous" spider you are looking at is black widow. Then again, a common grass spider could cause swelling like that if the person's body had a bad reaction to it, but it probably wouldn't do much more.

Does the bump itch/burn? If it does, and then suddenly it stops after a day or two and opens up to a crater, which no longer hurts even when you touch it, then something good has got a hold of you. The toxins have killed the nerves at the bite area. My heel looked like the most painful thing in the world, but I could mash it as hard as I wanted with no pain what so ever. This is what let me know exactly what the problem was(for two days prior, the area had been red and burning, but I just attributed it to a new pair of tennis shoes that I played basketball in the day before the pain started)

If it opens up at all, soak the elbow in hot salt water (a mix of regular salt and epsoms, and mix it strong) as much as you possibly can. If you feel a fever or stiffness begin to develop in the muscles, then it's probably best to go to a doctor.

If you live in southwestern Canada, then a hobo spider may very well be the culprit.

I figured YOU did, but then others started chiming in and I needed to be the voice of reason lol. HD, like I said, just watch what it does. It's NOT a brown recluse bite, looks nothing like one, and most everything else your body can take care of by itself. Watch for infection, don't be he-man if it starts getting worse (meaning, go see a doctor), and you'll be fine.

How did this turn out?

(1) I'm brown = mom white, dad black.
(2) the swelling slowly started to spread from that spot to my entire forearm then went away so I never did go to the Doc.

(3) does my arm look white?

Isn't that how those low budget cheap horror movies start?

"It's fine, honey. It went away...OMFG!!!"

So looks like the spider eggs hatched but your body absorbed the larva..

good for you..

Looks like a spider bite to me... I would go to the Dr., it may need further treatment. I had a guy we had to put on O2 treatments and anti biotics. I've also seen MRSA infections that started out like that that weren't bites at all, but looked like them. If it hasn't improved by now something is up. Please...get it looked at.

It could be a staph infection.

Maybe, I can't tell.

Staph infections and MRSA can be treated pretty easily if you go to the doc. So can spider bites. Go get that shit taken care of, it has to at least be annoying to have, right?

MRSA has to be treated ASAP, or it can get out of control really fast. I've seen such infections tunnel thru the skin.

Regardless, it looks nasty, and the fact that it still looks like that 10 days later is bad. You can end up lossing muscle in the area, etc...

Please, take a trip to the Dr. ASAP.
