d drive where you play cd rom or music or movie

ok, i didn't know what your setup was like. i have my d drive as an additional HD. my E and F drives are dual layer dvd burners.

oy - did you bang it around at all? you might have loosened some connections.

also, did you try going to the manufacturer's website and looking under troubleshooting.

and did you install anything new recently?

yes i went to the manafucture website to see if they have new update for the device but no they didn't have one... and yes i did look under troubleshooting... the d device is still there but it have a yellow triangle exclamation on top of the disk symbol...

and it said this device can not be located or missing or corrupted

I did what the help and support told me which is to go the device manager uninstall it and reinstall back by clicking the Add hardware device but just keep on saying that the device is missing or corrupted :( GGRRrr

I heard also that this is common.. that your d drive just dissapear...wtf!

i dont know how common that is, considering i have never had that problem since i had my first computer back in the late 80's.

you might want to do a system restore to a point where you cd-r last worked.

meh - i doubt this is from spyware / malware. it's probably either a software or a hardware issue. i know, that is totally vague, but you need to rule out one or the other.

try cleaning up your computer and its registry (tuneup utilities + ccleaner), and then try again. if that doesn't work, do a system restore to the last known point that everything was working correctly.

oh yeah, itunes was made by satan himself. that software package sucks.

and if not, drop some money, and buy yourself a new laptop, or at the very least, a new dvd/cd-r. they really arent that expensive.

taking it to comp-usa or bestbuy will cost you far more.

does your brother have the exact same shit installed on the computer as you do? there could be numerous things conflicting with that drive from all of the shit you installed during the past few months / years.

uh, what i am saying is, you guys won't have the exact same system settings and windows registry.

if you installed something he didn't it could radically change your registry

it might just be faulty hardware, but you have to eliminate one or the other.

did you shut the system completely off and reboot?

Also, check your BIOS.
