Help! New computer software is freezing my computer mouse and keyboard.

I have recently bought myself a pen scanner. When I installed the software for it on my computer, my mouse stopped working and my keyboard froze up. I have managed to delete the program and my computer is back to normal.

Does anyone know why this is happening? How can I install this software and get my mouse working again?

Dude, I have the same problem.... only I have a wireless keyboard... I swear to God that certain commercials on tv or cars passing by freeze the signal to complete stops and shakiness.

Sounds like the scanner could have been using some of the same interrupt request (irq) settings. That used to happen to me a long time ago on older computers, but with Plug N play i wouldnt think it would happen as often. you can check by going intocontrol panel/system and look in there for some properties of different devices, and check to see if they are trying to use the same interrupt request #'s, but i havent had this happen in a long while.
