Help an Old Man?

Gentlemen,
I'm soon-to-be 58 and on HRT. My injections are 200 mg/ every two weeks. I know that's not optimal but the doc is far away and won't let me self-inject. I hunted for years to find a decent doctor so getting a new doc is not possible; there is no one around here (srs). Did the pellets but they kept coming out. He did recently start me on Ana (1 mcg/week or mlg, whichever). When it is close to shot time, he gave me some topical T cream to even things out.

I feel okay but is there something I can do on my own to make things better?

I am 6'7" and 250 lbs, about 20% bodyfat. Have tried food logging, keeping it clean, keep my cals at 2000/day...and I ####### GAIN weight on that. No...not making that up...it is WIERD! I lift 3 days per week and hit the ergometer 3 days per week. Totally at a loss for this...

I guess my primary goal is to lose the adipose with muscle gain as secondary (unlikely at 58 anyway).

Any help? Any suggestions?

Chances are you have other hormones that are out of whack, problem is most docs dont deal with that stuff.

2000 cals a day isnt much for a guy your size so if your having problems losing fat its likely due to too few cals.

Id recommend checking out crossfit, your beyond the age where your going to be able to pack on a lot of muscle, id go for overall fitness and try and get that BF down. Perhaps try and find a crossfit gym with kind of a strength biased programming.

Have you considered pinning twice a week instead of twice a month to make the highs and lows less extreme? Say, 50 Monday, 50 Thursday... Also, what is your main goal?

Since he said he has to go to the dr for an injection, pinning twice a week doesn't sound like an option.

Has your dr done recent bloodwork? Maybe your estrogen is too high and you might need to add an AI. Im not a dr or an expert but from all my research you have to inject at least once a week with test to keep the levels stable and a lot of people suggest twice a week. I hate to say find a new dr but a good dr should let you do self injections. Maybe bring that subject up again. What is the reasoning for not allowing you to do it yourself? Of course you can also try to source the test on your own so you can do it yourself but that will cost more then it would if you can get a prescription covered by insurance
