helicopter lessons?

jerkbox said:
anyone ever take them?

i think that would be pretty cool for some reason.

helicopters are cool....ive rode in a several different kinds ...its like star wars

JB, go out to a local airport and get and intro flight. It is a blast but very expensive. Count on around 150-185+ per hour of flight time for the Helicoptor rental and instructor. I want to get my rating eventually, but still have the third stage of my Instrument rating to finish, my Multi, Commercial, CFI and CFII. An aerobatic flight is a killer rush as well. Just look up a local FBO for info.

amazing....i swear you can always find someone on elite who has done something you may have a question about.

thanks for the info man...sounds pretty cool. i would imagine being a pilot is a cool job, and probably pays well.

Yeah, I took about 12 hours of instruction a long time ago when I was single and had much more disposable cash.

Flying choppers vs. fixed wing is different...but there is some carry over. By then I'd done a lot of formation flying which requires a pretty fine control over aircraft movements . That made it easy to hover. I was able to hover the helo on my first flight, which was pretty cool.

I eventually ran out of cash for the helo lessons.

If you do get some lessons, try and find an instructor who is an ex Army guy. They give you a great ride at the end of you lesson. :)

Fixed wing flying would be MUCH cheaper to get a license.

I got some as a birthday present when I was like 11. It was pretty cool the thing was hyper sensitve and shook all to hell. But, it was a lot of fun. Take a couple, you won't regret it
