High Blood Pressure

Blood pressure is the force pushing blood through the blood vessels. When your blood pressure is high, your heart has to work harder. This causes the heart’s muscle walls to thicken and some of the chambers may enlarge. These changes put extra strain on the heart, and the heart muscle eventually stretches and weakens.

Athletes have enlarged hearts and thicker walls due to exercise. How to fix it? Stop training I guess... :worried:

All athletes that are physically active will have an enlarged hear to keep up with the blood flow. Just like your muscles will grow if you train. It's normal.

Hypertrophy of the heart muscle is a normal and beneficial response to exercise. It is when the ventricles become enlarged and dialated that you have to be concerned. The chambers become stretched out and the walls do not become any stronger, actually weaken as they get stretched out more and more, less able to contract and this leads to congestive heart failure. High blood pressure can be a cause of that.

High blood pressure can also cause kidney damage.
