Gone cold turkey for 5 days now.. decided to take a half pill today.. Having brain shocks like every 30 seconds it seems.. This shit sucks bad..... what can i do to make this easier??

Pal, a few weeks ago i decided to quit taking zoloft Cold Turkey. I learned as you are you cant stop cold turkey........I was having anxiety attacks, tachacardia, insomnia etc...

When coming off SSRI's you need to taper for 2 months for 0 withdrawel. My doctor made me take my normal dose right away and continue till i felt myself again, than i will stay on for 2 more weeks and he will taper me off slowly......

That's my suggestion to you...

Good Luck.

Why did you decided to quit anyhow?

What some of the guys here have said. I had to taper off slowly. I was at 40mgs then tapered to 30 then 20 and 10 over 4 weeks. That seemed to work fine for me.

There is a class action suit against Paxil because so many people have had such a difficult time coming off it.

Give yourself at the minimum a month, reducing the dose over time. It is not uncommon to need two months or more to come off the shit.

I'm a shrink and I will not let my consulting psychiatrist prescribe the drug to clients except when others won't work.

Hey bro, I know it varies from person to person but what would be the first choice of meds you would recommend?

Many of my clients have done quite well with Celexa, a Euro import, which behaves a little differently from Paxil and Prozac. It tends to cause sleepiness in some people, however. In that case Wellbutrin is good, since it has an energizing effect. If you're treating a tendency toward obsessive/compulsive behavior, the Wellbutrin won't work where the Celexa will. So, sometimes the two are combined.

But you really need to consult a psychiatrist -- not a GP -- who can help you experiment with the right drugs and doses.
