Have you ever been hypnotized?

Nope, I have an inate distrust of all thing breathing.
However....an old buddy of mine in college was the exact opposite and we were at this group demonstration with the amazing _________, (Can't recall his name but he really was amazing,) And he was on this stage with about 200 people in the crowd and did this relaxation exercise with the group and then did a tonal thing to get people in a trance and did a count down from 10 to 1 and then about 12 people and my buddy went dashing to the stage.
He ordered these guys around like they were puppets.
He told them to stand, they stood.
To sit, they sat.
To hold their arm out and try to bend it because it was stuck. They couldn't and exerted alot of force as if they were pulling.
Told them to dance like a chicken and yes several of them did.
Throughout all this he told them that they wouldn't do anything that they didn't agree to do and they would all nod yes or not nod at all. Some people did everything, some didn't.
Pretty wild.

I have been hypnotized...I did it to try to quit dipping skoal...it did not work. I dipped on the way home. Quit on my own a few months later...

wodin: the same kinda thing was put on at my college for freshman orientation one year.....the best part was when he told the hypnotized people that when they opened their eyes, everyone in the crowd would be naked and all the hypnotized people started pointing at the crowd and freaking out when they opened there eyes.....one football player in particular started pointing at this girl and freaking out and the hypnotist walked over to him and said what's the problem? and he was like, "damn that girl over there has nice tits"....lol....i don't think the hypnotist was expecting that and he tried to move on really quickly after that....
Nope. I wasn't doing any drugs at that time and my bud never did anything beyond beer and a few shots.SoreArms said:
It was cool seeing it. They all bought into the "You are eating a the best sandwich you've ever had." These people were moaning and munching. It was great.

Before we were married my wife and I went to this thing at her college where they had a hypnotist and some other stuff going one. We both got pulled up onto the stage along with about 20 other people. Everyone fell into his trance but me and one other guy. He made us go sit down. It was pretty funny though. At one point he told the girls on stage that one of the guys had his fly down and his unit was exposed. They all started looking at him and laughing and giggling and shit.

I've hypnotized myself and have no doubt that it works even though I wouldn't call my attemps at self-hypnosis completely successful.
Also have seen stage hypnotists live and am quite interested in how method of hypnosis can be applied to trick people. Do a search on psychological illusionist 'Derren Brown'...He's British but i recommend that you watch some of his shows if you're at all interested in the power of the mind and hypnosis.
I actually got a few books on hypnosis and the subconscious mind from the library today...it's interesting stuff.
