Yup plenty of times. That's what I am self employed now.
got canned from a part time job i had in college....went to pepsicola, fl for the weekend....my P.O.S. fiat 124 convertible died on me....the coke head bitch of a telephone operator "forgot" to log in my sick call for monday. (payback for turning her down for a quickie? god knows what was crawling out of her box)...
they filed for bankruptsy about 3 months' later........i laughed and shot the empty building the finger every time i drove by it.

I was fired once but the reason they gave me was pretty off....anyway, went & filed for unemployment, which I got turned down for cuz I was fired, but I protested it and when we had a meeting with the Labor Board, my employer admitted they fired me cuz I said something derogatory about my supervisor on my lunch hour, which was unpaid. So they ruled that it was wrongful termination....

One of my first jobs, I was a cashier for a gas/convenient station part-time. Some of the customers are major league assholes. I could never do that again. One redneck trucker came in and demanded to know why I didn't turn on the diesel pump, I said, "Sir you have to prepay for diesel gasoline." He said, "Well, if you weren't sitting on your ass back there, you would have seen me." I looked at him for a second and said, "Fuck you!" I'd do it all over again. I hate taking shit off people.

Was fired from mowing a ladys lawn when I had a lawn mowing service at 15.
She was pissed because when my mower died I missed her lawn day by 2 days
getting the mower fixed.
The large company she had come in really screwed up her lawn and did a crappy job and I sat across the street LOL..
Other than that I've never been fired

I was fired once by Lowe's, about 1.5 years ago... filed for Wrongful Termination, and got $7,500 from them.

Yes, back when I was in college I worked at a cable waterskiing park and you could ski on your break. Well the boss hated me and I didn't care for him so one time I skied longer that 15 minutes and he fired me for it. The other time I accidently caught a twin engine airplane on fire(70k damage) and I appropriately got FIRED for that.

I was "dismissed" from my first part time job while I was at school. The nuns that ran the outfit wanted me to work on a day I told them I was leaving town on retreat with teachers and classmates. When I got back and went to work they let me down gently.
The firm I work for now has not had a good year. I may be on the line to get laid off if they don't make their minimum numbers at the end of the year. They have made sure that those people in the line of fire are prepared however. They hired a consultant to hold a workshop last week to prepare resumes and for interviews.

I used to be a bellman at a hotel. Part of the job was to drive the shuttle to the airport. I got canned when I crashed the van.
Well, the second time I crashed the van.
Also once I was taking a customer to another hotel cos we were booked and I busted a sharp U-turn and he fell off his seat right on the floor.
The latter two things never got back to my boss though, just the first one. At the time it was traumatic but I can look back and laugh.

I'd say I work anywhere for 25-55 hours a week. It just depends on the week. But I am doing over 50K a year and I am not really complaining. The biggest challenge to being self employed is get over the fact you don't have a company to hold your hand and take care of you. But it was easy to get over that when I realize most companies (at least the ones I worked for) don't care about you at all and just the bottom line. As an good employee all you are is an expendible asset.
I'm saving my cash to open a gym although I plan do still have other things going on that will be my focus in 2-3 years.

I did have a meeting yesterday at work where all the upper management tripped all over themselves apologizing to me about the "misunderstanding" over my previous work related shoulder injury, and even got a new job offer because of these "misunderstandings."\
It's amazing how the approaching date of a hearing before the worker's comp. board will make people apologetic.

I was fired this week.
The fact that I don't care probably says a lot about the kind of employee I was. lol Anyway, I find it degrading to work for someone else. I always get images of slaves in the cotten field working themselves to death for leftover scraps off the white masters plate.
Fuck the white man, and fuck working for a living.
I will be self-employed by next spring, so help me god.
