Have we grown less competent?

I have a suspicion that people are losing their grip. The percentage of incompetent phone messages have grown significantly. People don't seem to listen as effectively either.

One has to wonder when fully half of all phone numbers left are incomprehensible. If their message irritates me, I may as well not bother to return it.
