doubles.1.

A lot of interviews I've been on have asked if I have any questions....

So I ask: "What would an employee of this company have to say if I asked them what it was like to work here??"

I've stumped a few interviewers with it...

What kind of job is it for?

One thing that always goes over well is to ask a lot of questions about the company, its business, its future, etc. If all else fails ask the person interviewing you if they like their job and what its like to work there.

They're interviewing you, but you're also interviewing them.

Learn as much about the company as you can before you go into the interview. Take letters of recomendation. They will probably ask questions about why you would be good for the company and whatnot. Do not worry too much. You will do fine. I just had an interview on Friday, so I am waiting to hear back. Good luck.

Bor- go google some common questions interviewers ask for starters.
Obviously have good answers for why you want to work there and why you think you'd be good for the position.

Along with that make sure you're very familiar with the company and the actual position for which you're applying.

And, like other peole have said, have some good questions you can ask them.

I'm no expert but in getting my first job out of college i probably did 10-12 interviews, so i've gotten the hang of them.

Always write out anticipated questions from the interviewer so that you can have your thoughts together. Here are some:

1. Tell me about yourself:

2. Describe Your ideal Job:

3. Why have you decided to change careers / companies / job

4. How do you react to criticism:

5. How do you motivate people:

6. Tell me about a time when you dealt with a problem:

7. Give me an example of how you work under pressure

8. Give me an example on how you work as a team:

9. In what kind of environment are you most comfortable:

10. What are your strengths and weaknesses

11. What are your greatest accomplishments

12. What personal characteristics ar necessary for success in your chosen field

13. Describe the ideal work environment:

14. Tell me about a time when you adapted to a new and difficult situation

15. Had to make an unpopular decision

16. Handled a difficult situation with a co-worker:

17. Made a bad decision:

18. Were you ever disappointed by the way you handled a situation: Big Mike at Cooke and Bieler

19. Having to deal with an irate customer on the phone:

21. What kind of supervision do you prefer, what qualities in a supervisor do you like most ?

QUESTIONS TO ASK THE INTERVIEWER:

Why is the position vacant…did someone leave or are we talking expansion ?

What specific skills / experience are you looking for ?

Can you describe how works gets done here…..as a team or independent contributors ?

Can you describe a typical day in this position…I am trying to understand the specific responsibilities/goals of this position ?

What can I expect the first assignment to be ?

To whom does the position report to ………and what can you tell me about this person (management style) ?

What do you see as the biggest challenge for th is position or even the department ?

Is there any interactions with other departments ?

How can one be the most successful in this role ? more schooling ..etc ?

Is there a timeline on when a decision will be made for the position ?

He might ask ya somethin analytical like "why are manhole covers round?", just to see your thought process.

Doubles,

I work there, what division are you appying with and where? You can PM me if you'd like.

go read Leigh Steinberg's autobiography. It's the 101 on how to win people over in meetings/interviews/negotiations. It's fucking brilliant.
