I'd have to agree with what other folks have said above. Have people died "because of" steroid use before? Sure. Just like people have died from alcohol, other illicit substances, commonly prescribed medications, OTC medications, and all kinds of foods or herbs. Plenty of people die every year from taking acetaminophen (tylenol) which in higher dosages is liver toxic. Just like anything else, taking too much or going overboard can have adverse effects or kill you, or getting gear from a bad source, just like you hear about product recalls for OTC medications because impurities are killing people. Steroids are just very demonized and really played up in the media for some odd reason. If someone who takes aas does anything wrong, no matter any other factors like mental illness or other substances or other issues, it's always the aas that caused the problem. Meanwhile things like antidepressants can actually make people worse if not dosed correctly and can lead to horrific behavior and suicidal tendencies but they are passed out like candy while the media regales us with tales of "roid rage". They have drugs for everything that are just peachy keen to give out like crazy to help solve any perceived problem, except for something as horrific as wanting to help give your hard work in the gym a boost to look and feel good.
By the same logic people use against aas they should outlaw ding dongs because the more you eat the bigger you get and large amounts of ding dongs can cause all kinds of medical problems that can kill you. It's the responsible people that moderate and properly cycle their ding dong intake that will suffer because of the few who engage in out of control ding dong abuse.
