I work in a warehouse and we have all the Halo 2 games coming to Memphis right now...I probably moved 80,000 copies of that game today, no joke, so I already have a copy...

I'm all up on that shit too!! However, i've read some reports from people who got it last month and they say it's so-so. Too similar to the first one, without anything noticable.

Then again -- they haven't played it multiplayer and that's where all the action is!

I have read that many 'pros' dislike the leaked Halo 2 because the pistol is no longer the ultimate weapon.
Whilst I loooooooooove the pistol, i can accept that it is gone and will have to find new ways to own your punk asses.

So what if the pistol is not the top weapon to have in the game. I played Halo the first time around on legendary never haing used the pistol, as i mistakenly thought the weapon sucked. Later i learned to use it and it rocked, but only in some instances. Personally i like the fact that Halo does not really have a one size fits all weapon. It makes you take notice of each weapons streghts and forces you to pick wisely in accordance with your enemies weaknesses. It makes the strategy of the game that much more important and fun.

BTW: We have it on reserve too. Eagerly awaiting it. And HL2

I've been playing it for close to 3 weeks already. I have the french pal leak, and the retail ntsc version with the bonus limited edition disk. Good game, but very much like the first one. It's supposed to be a very short game, about half as long as the original.

I'm more of a PC gamer at heart, so my xbox is pretty much dedicated to being a media center with xbmc, and playing all the downloaded movies from bit torrent. ;)

Damn I just got back from getting mine.

Got there at 11:00 PM (I was preordered and prepaid) and got home at 1:00 AM. In line almost 2 hours.

Let the massacre begin.
 
I went at 12:00 and only stood in line for about 20 minutes. Got home but only played for about 10 minutes since I had to be up for work shortly.

I called 2 of my buddies and they were still in line as I was going to bed. They said they had well over 500 people in line. Haha, suckers that live in a large city.

Tonight is LAN party w/some friends. This weekend it's kicking Bullit's arse.

I only played for about 10 minutes, but so far looks promising. I noticed a lot better physics, esp. with the sniper rifle.

Perhaps you should ask Bullit how the game is since I'm certain he's been playing non-stop to somehow try and get the upperhand on everybody.

A buddy just got a big screen for tonight.
The thing I really like about Halo is playing with a bunch of people. I don't know if I would play it so much if we didn't all hang out every weekend and kill each other. It's a good excuse to get together and call each other fuckers.

It's gonna take a while to fully grasp who the gaming selection works in xbl, what all those damn multiplayer icons mean, and how each type of game really works.

once you master all that -- it's fun. I have no idea what one is supposed to do after the game is over and you're looking at your stats and your only option is B to go back to game search.

That's because everyones too retarded to learn how to work a mouse + keyboard. People don't realize how inferior the joysticks on xbox are. The range of movement/accuracy is just awful. Give me a mouse/keyboard adaption for the xbox...and I'd beat anyone in the world who tried to challenge me with their measly controllers.

To me it's like using a rake to play baseball instead of a bat. Why would I do this when I have a nice fucking bat right in my room?
 
of course someone with a mouse will beat someone with a keyboard-how does that make the computer superior? if anything it dumbs down the controls and turns it into a twitch fest.

what makes pcs superior IMO is the modding abilities and the fact that you can plug in a new graphics card every couple of years. but graphics cards are costly and modding should hit consoles by next gen.

also, i believe ms went back on their word and released a mouse and keyboard combo along with halo 2's release.

anyway, i have spent about an hour with halo 2 and i am very satisfied so far.

Yes, but can you lounge on the sofa, burn incense, fireplace going, relaxing playing your game with the dog next to you and dolby surround sound all around you in 360?

I spend enough hours on the 'puter as is -- i enjoy the xbox cuz it allows me to have interactive fun in the living room. Even guests/gf's can watch and see what i'm doing. GF's can put up with video games in the living. But they *hate* a geeky computer gamer bf locked up in the bedroom for 5 hours.

Hey, I don't mind playing console games at all...as long it's not an fps game. I play twisted metal 2 with my friends all the time...could you imagine playing that on the computer? Of course not, it just doesn't work as well. That's how I see fps games on the xbox.
 
Whew. Just got thru playing with 6 friends for 5 hours.

This game is definitely different from the first. Quite a bit of new stuff & techniques.

Sadly, I'd say overall I like the first Halo better. :(

Really.. I like the 2nd one better, I'm still trying to get the hang of the dual wielding stuff.
 
although I bashed it... I still went out today and bought:
an xbox (all i had was ps2 up to this point)
4 wireless controllers
monster cable xbox hd hookups (to play on the 65 inch)
optical sound connect
halo2 (of course)
xbox wireless 802.11b network card

-after playing halo2 (and xbox itself) for the first time, I have to say, having your aim controls on a joystick instead of a mouse is SOOOO limiting... there is no acceleration coefficient to aim faster or slower based on hand movement, either moving or not moving... it's like taking a giant step backward in fps tech. Still fun nonetheless, just wanted to show it's insuperiority to pc games.

In defense -- at least EVERYONE's game runs at the exact same speed. So everyone is on a level playing field.

Nothing is more unfair than 5 plays in a PC online game having powerful P5 computers with fast processing -- giving them huge advatnages over the slow pokes whose games run slower on the screen.

Plus i like the ability to be able to hear and talk to everyone in the game. on the PC very few have voice capability.

I think the mouse is good but overrated. I used to play online on the PC and the mouse is irritating to use sometimes (lots of repetitive up/down physical motions of the mouse when scrolling).

Don't forget -- if you can aim better and shoot -- so can the enemy. So in essence you'll die much faster. It equals itself out.

The input for the xbox compared to the PC for FPS games is a little different. In the PC fps you could sneak around a corner 1/10 of a millimeter at a time and when you see the very pixel of the shoulder of an enemy you can shoot and make a kill. Well as an avid computer games fan i always really liked this aspect of fine tuned controlls, but at the same time it almost allows you to cheat. The Xbox style forces you out into the open with guns blazing, making for some incredible gun fights, i was never able to have as much fun playing with PC games. The controll differences are irrelevant because it's 2 completly different styles of gameplay, yes again STYLES OF GAMEPLAY. Halo is no fun with mouse and keyboard where i can do sneak attacks all the time, i challenge anyone to take me on with mouse and keybord and I'll blast you full of holes like a needle and thread in a quilt making class.

This game has risen the bar to the next level but ofcourse the PC boys will not agree. It's the classic confrontation of consoles and PC's, you know like skiers and snowboarders, where each disses the other no matter how good and each party is convinced theirs is best.
Again PC's and Consoles have a different STYLE of gameplay, it's like that for a reason. Comparing HL on PC to HALO 2 on a console is ALMOST like apples and oranges as far as the STYLE of gameplay. I think Xbox is edging out PC FPS and the PC boys don't like it, after all it's been their domain for over a decade. And BTW i am a PC boy as well, propably more then most of the peeps here, I've been at it for along time, since my first Tandy 8088 playing thexder and KQ3 then eventually building my own 80486 (no math co-processor, lol) and to the pentium class of today, i own 3 high end pentium machines including the toshiba wide screen lap top. I know computer games and am convinced that Halo and games like HL, quake and doom are great in their own right when played the way they were meant to be, but Halo 2 has set a new standard, Period.

Well, I bought it yesterday after work. Walked into Best Buy around 5 PM, they had it right up front. Picked it up with no wait, paid for it, and was out the door in less than five minutes. LOL to all of the people who waited in lines the night before, heh. This is actually the first game I've bought in over two years, hell my Xbox hasn't been turned on in several months.

I like the game, but I hate that I stayed up until 2 AM last night playing it. :) I'd say I'm only halfway through it by now, so far I like it about the same as the first Halo. Many things are better but I kind of liked the story from the first one a little more, at least so far. Better weapons for sure, and the AI definately seems much more slick. It's a damn good game.

I don't have Xlive but I think I may get it just to play this online. I guess I need a router and the headset kit now, is Xlive still only $50 per year or did they increase it yet?
