Zyg is correct.

The only way it can recur is if they do not remove the whole gland. Once it is completely gone, it is completely gone.
 
Actually, In bb's that run year round it does come back. Never to the same size as before, about every 2 years they need to get it shaved down alittle. This is due to the fact that the doc has to leave a little bit of the gland behind the nipple so it wont be indented.
 
The answer to your question is yes. They remove glandular tissue not an actual gland. It can come back and it will if you are not carefull. I'm living proof. I have to have it done again because of progesterone side from fina. I only thought estrogen would be a problem but I guess I was wrong. So here we go again.
