Gun Question

I Told You So ...

I've never bought one (I inherited mine), simple question: Do you have to be an American citizen to purchase a gun in America?

I dont think so. I'm not 100% sure but some people were talking about that very same thing in the lobby at work this morning ; and asking that same question.

Just have to be a legal permanent resident and able to pass the background requirements.

Apparently not.
Any licensed gun dealer will walk you through all the legal steps.
Oh now that's just wrong, wrong, wrong, wrong.

Holy shit, that seems like basic common sense, if you ain't an American citizen you can't buy a gun in this country, period.

If all you got is a VISA your ass ain't got NO business buying a gun in this country.

I agree, however, most gun dealer's are not INS agents.
Requiring a birth certificate and photo I.D. and a social security card seems easy enough.

I mean, holy shit, you basically need that much just to rent a car!!!

Agreed, however, I think this VT killer showed his green card( red flag imo) and all other valid ID requirements.

a drivers license is a presumed right to be here..

that's the issue..

most states do not require the date of expiration of the visa on the drivers license..

that's an issue for me..

At least in Colorado (not sure of other states) you have to provide a current driver's liscense or state ID, your SSN, and have them run a background check through CBI.

Of course most people who are going to use them for adverse purposes obtain them unlawfully.

I never gave it any thought before Monday. The Bill Of Rights shouldn't apply to non US citizens. They're guests, and should be treated as such.

Even worse, they ran a "check" on this kid thru the State Police.

I guess if you do not have a huge record, you get a gun.
