Growth Hormone Injection Procedures

FLmuscles

New member
I have not yet done a cycle with GH, so I am by no means claiming to be an expert(!) but I found this page while looking for some other AS-related info. on the net. It is some really good info, and I thought it might be helpful to others. I've just started my current cycle 10 days ago--Anadrol, Test. Suspension, and Deca. It's going GREAT, but I am already looking forward to trying GH next time around. Hope you all find this info. helpful. If you want to visit the site, it is at www.drcranton.com/hghart2.htm

PATIENT INSTRUCTIONS FOR
HUMAN GROWTH HORMONE (HGH)

SERONO SAIZEN in 15 UNIT VIALS

This HGH is marketed under the brand name, Saizen®, (somatropin is the generic term for HGH). It is manufactured by Serono Pharmaceutical Company in Randolph, Massachusetts, in a FDA licensed and inspected factory. Saizen contains the highest quality HGH product available. A FDA-issued NDC code on the label 44087-1005-2, assures you of highest quality.

A licensed physician must prescribe HGH. Before beginning treatment, your blood levels of somatomedin-C (also called IGF-1) will be measured to determine need for replacement. Benefits occur slowly over several months, and full benefits take six months to one year or longer. The lower your initial somatomedin-C levels, the faster you’ll notice improvements.

HGH replacement therapy is more effective when used together with DHEA and other hormones. Estrogen/progesterone replacement (for women) or testosterone replacement (for men) can also add significantly to benefits from hormone replacement. All of those hormones decline with age. The goal of hormone replacement is to restore levels to those normally present for several decades during early adulthood. Safe levels at age 30 will remain safe when restored to that same level later in life. Adverse effects from hormone replacement result only from excessive doses or the use of unnatural and synthetic hormones.

Undiluted, freeze-dried HGH powder in sterile vials may be safely kept at room temperature, not to exceed 86 degrees Fahrenheit, for up to 18 months (as dated on each vial). Up to 110 degrees for a day or two before mixing may be tolerated without a problem. Once diluent is added, however, the resulting liquid HGH must be kept refrigerated and used within 4 weeks or potency will slowly decline.

Diluent is an aqueous solution formulated to maintain sterility. A separate vial of diluent is provided for each 15-unit vial of SERONO SAIZEN® at no additional cost.

The HGH vial contains a dry, white powdered amount of sterile, purified HGH. The diluent is a clear, colorless fluid, which looks like water. The diluent vial and HGH vial are both clearly identified on their labels. Diluent is labeled “Bacteriostatic water for injection, USP.” In addition to the HGH syringes, you will also be provided with a supply of 5-ml syringes with needles attached. These are used to transfer diluent into the HGH vial. Please notify us if you need more syringes.

Clinic staff will demonstrate the following procedures for you until you feel confident to do them yourself. Alternatively, you may have a nurse, friend, or relative near you who can help you become proficient at doing this. Please telephone a nurse or the doctor at this Clinic if you have questions.

Mixing Instructions:

Before the vials are first used, they will have a plastic cap over the top of the rubber stopper. It’s first necessary to remove that cap. This can be done by simply pushing up on the cap and breaking the seal. Beneath the cap will be a rubber stopper. In the center is a smaller circle through which the needle is inserted. It’s important to keep the rubber stopper clean and sterile. Before each use, carefully wipe the area where the needle goes with an alcohol swab on both the diluent and HGH vials. Then do not allow anything to touch those sterile areas except the sterile needle.

To add diluent, remove the 5-ml diluent syringe from its paper wrapper. Before removing the plastic guard from the needle, twist it firmly clockwise to insure that the needle is screwed tightly onto the syringe. Then remove the plastic guard from the needle. Do not touch the needle and do not allow the needle to come in contact with anything that might contaminate it. Pull back the plunger to draw 3-ml of air into the syringe. Then insert the needle through the center of the stopper into the diluent vial. Push the plunger so that all the air goes into the vial. Then hold the vial upside down, with the syringe and needle pointing upwards. Pull the plunger back until slightly more than 3-ml of saline is in the syringe. Any air will rise to the top. Move the plunger in and out slightly until all air is out of the syringe. Adjust the plunger so that 3.2 (three and two-tenths) ml of diluent remains in the syringe. Graduations in ml and fractions of ml are clearly marked on the barrel of each syringe.

Slowly inject diluent into the HGH vial as follows: hold the HGH vial stopper-side-up and point the needle of the syringe downward. Insert the needle through the very center of the HGH vial, but angle the tip of the needle toward the glass wall. Slowly push in the plunger, releasing the diluent against the vial wall onto the HGH powder. You can tilt the vial slightly to help the diluent run down the inside wall of the vial. Inject diluent slowly, so that it trickles down the wall onto the HGH powder at the bottom. Do not inject forcefully, as the HGH will foam if agitated. Foam will stick to the inside of the vial, causing loss of HGH. For the same reason, do not shake the HGH vial during or after mixing. Instead, slowly roll or rotate the HGH solution until dissolved. This will result in a concentration of 1-unit of HGH in each 0.2-ml of solution (2/10ths of a ml). The diluent vial may be discarded, as a new one will accompany each HGH vial.

Storage, Handling, and Traveling:

After the HGH is fully dissolved, keep it refrigerated. Do not allow it to freeze. If out of the refrigerator for a few hours when traveling, after the diluent has been added, be sure that it does not get any warmer than 80 degrees Fahrenheit.

Do not allow the HGH solution to get hot. DO NOT SHAKE the vial, as the solution will foam, causing some to stick to the glass walls of the vial, making it impossible to extract the entire amount. It may be more convenient to transfer all of the HGH from the multidose vial to individual syringes immediately after mixing with diluent. Each syringe will contain one dose. Then keep the loaded syringes in the refrigerator.

The HGH solution for injection is stable for up to 24 hours at room temperature (not over 80 degrees Fahrenheit) and for up to four weeks if constantly refrigerated. Potency is lost more rapidly if not refrigerated. The higher the temperature, the shorter time the full potency is retained. If used within 4 weeks and stored properly, full potency is assured. Refrigeration is important to extend full potency for four weeks. A small, insulated CoolPack® can be used to store your vial of HGH during travel, and may be ordered through this office.

If you travel and will not be home to receive your regular shipment, please advise us in advance of the proper shipping instructions and address. If you plan to travel and wish to order more than your usual number of vials in advance, please notify us. In addition, if you are leaving the country, we can provide a letter certifying that a licensed physician lawfully prescribed the injectables and syringes. This can avoid embarrassment if customs officials search your luggage.

Shipping Schedule:

We will ship your supply of HGH via overnight courier (UPS Red Label). You will be notified of the shipment day so that you can look for delivery. You will receive your vials of HGH, diluent, disposable syringes, and alcohol swabs on the day following shipment. There is no need to refrigerate prior to adding diluent unless room temperature is normally higher than 86o F.

Cost:

The cost for each 15-unit vial of HGH is $310.00, plus actual shipping cost—which will vary from approximately $20 to $60 per order, depending on size of the order and destination. You will be charged at the time of each shipment to your credit card, or paid in advance, as instructed by you. Syringes with needles attached, diluent, and alcohol swabs are included at no additional cost. If you need more, please call.

Dosage

The usual dose is one unit of HGH taken daily in the evening, close to bedtime. See detailed directions on filling the syringe below. Many patients are now taking HGH every day, especially since the cost is reduced. If you take HGH injections for only four days each week, Monday through Thursday, for example, you will follow that with a three-day rest of no injections. Based on several years of experience, this 4-day schedule has been found to be the minimum schedule to achieve anti-aging benefit. Recent experience with hundreds of patients shows that up to 2-units every day may be safely injected, with added benefit at a higher dose. Most patients are now taking one unit of HGH every day, and others take 1½ to 2-units daily. Higher doses bring more benefit but at higher cost. A dose of 1½-units daily is probably at the point of diminishing returns. If you chose to take more than one unit per day, it’s recommended that you limit your dose to one unit daily for the first two months to allow body tissues to slowly regenerate and adjust.

The abbreviations “cc” for cubic centimeter and “ml” for milliliter are used interchangeably and both mean the same thing. Some syringes are labeled “cc” and others are labeled “ml”. Diluent syringes hold a total of 5-ml and the syringes used for injection hold a total of 1-ml.

To administer your daily dose, first draw up slightly more than the desired dose of HGH into the 1-ml syringe. This can be done in advance and the loaded syringes can then be stored in a refrigerator. One unit will fill the syringe to the point where it is marked "0.2" and the syringe is one-fifth full. A dose of 1½-unit will be “0.3” ml, approximately one-third full. Two units comes to “0.4” ml, or two-fifths full. After the solution has been drawn into the syringe, hold the needle upright and tap on the syringe with your fingernail to dislodge any large air bubbles in the solution. After any bubbles present have risen to the top, just beneath the base of the needle, the air can be expelled back into the vial by pushing on the plunger very slowly, leaving exactly the desired dose of HGH solution in the syringe. It’s best to do this with the needle still inside the inverted vial so that any HGH solution, which accidentally comes out with the air, will not be lost. If a tiny amount of air remains in the syringe, it will not cause any problem. It’s often not possible to get every last speck of air or foam out of the injection.

Between your fingers pinch up a layer of skin and subcutaneous fat anywhere on the body. Insert the tiny needle, and press the plunger in all the way to inject the dose. The abdomen, above the navel, is a convenient location. Avoid the belt line, which might be irritated by pressure. The doctor or nurse will demonstrate the proper procedure in the clinic when HGH is first prescribed.

ALTERNATE DOSING OPTION:

Recently some patients have chosen to administer half the daily dose of HGH at bedtime and half on arising in the morning. There have been anecdotal reports of slightly increased benefit with the same total daily dose. The number of injections is doubled, however, to get the same total dosage, which is less convenient. There is no convincing evidence that this achieves more benefit.

If you decide to split your daily doses, taking half at night and half in the morning, you will need twice as many syringes. If you plan to use this twice-daily dosing option, please let us know and we will ship the number of syringes needed at no additional charge.

FILLING THE SYRINGE AND GETTING EVERY LAST DROP:

The rubber stopper has a crosswise notch or slit on the inside of the bottle. It is necessary to turn the vial until you can sight across that notch to get all of the HGH into the last syringe. If care is not taken, you might miss the last few drops. In order to get 100% of the last dose from the vial, take the following steps:

a) Remove the protective needle cover from the needle attached to the 1-ml disposable syringe, being careful not to touch the needle to preserve sterility. Place the vial on a tabletop, stopper-side up. Pull back the plunger to draw an amount of air into the syringe equal to your dose (this is not necessary for the first few syringes because of the air pressure built up when diluent is added). Insert the needle straight into the vial, holding the vial and syringe perfectly in line. Be sure that the needle enters straight through the very center of the rubber stopper. There is a small circle on the top of the stopper, which marks the center.

b) After the needle has been inserted, press the plunger all the way in, adding air to the vial equal to the dose you’ll withdraw. Then hold the vial in your hand and turn both vial and syringe together to a vertical position, upside down, so that the syringe is on the bottom and the HGH solution runs into the depression and notch just inside the stopper.

c) Rotate the vial, continuing to hold it straight upside down, until you can see through the vertical notch in the rubber stopper, inside the vial. You should be able to see into the bottom of the depression inside the stopper, where the needle first enters the vial, and where HGH has pooled. The tip of the needle will be seen protruding into the pool of HGH solution. If an air bubble is near the needle tip, tap or snap the vial gently with your finger until the bubble breaks free and floats to the top.

d) The tip of the needle must be within the solution, especially to get the last drop. For the last few doses, slowly withdraw the needle back until just the very tip is visible coming through the inside of the stopper.

e) Taking care to hold the tip of the needle in that same position (barely penetrating the inside surface of the stopper), draw back on the plunger of the syringe until the desired amount of HGH solution has been drawn up.

f) Carefully inject any air back into the vial. It will not hurt to inject a little foam with the HGH. A tiny amount of air remaining in the syringe will do no harm.

g) The total amount of solution available will vary from vial to vial, depending on foaming, which sticks to the inner walls of the vial and is lost, and on the exact amount of diluent added. A small amount of solution always adheres to the inside of the vial and this varies somewhat with each vial. We therefore advise adding an extra small amount of diluent (3.2 ml instead of 3 ml) to compensate, but you can still expect the amount in the last syringe to vary somewhat from vial to vial.

QUESTIONS AND FOLLOW-UP:

If any questions occur or if you believe you are having any problems with treatment, please call this office.

SYRINGE DISPOSAL:

Used syringes are considered to be “biohazard waste”, and it is against the law to dispose of them with your other garbage and waste. They should be incinerated at high temperature to insure that no environmental contamination from blood could occur. If you cannot dispose of the used syringes safely yourself, you may return them to our clinic. We have a licensed biohazard disposal service that makes regular pickups.

REPORTED BENEFITS OF HGH

Benefits of HGH replacement by injection reported in the medical literature are described below. Benefits are gradually achieved over six to twelve months after restoring growth hormone levels in older patients to normal levels for a healthy young adult. Benefits may continue to increase for up to 18 months or more after beginning therapy. If therapy is stopped, body tissues slowly return to their original state and speed of aging, to the state they would be in if HGH were never used. Some slowing of the aging process experienced during use may be retained but there’s no withdrawal and no rebound—just a slow return close to an untreated state over several months.

It’s scientifically well proven that secretion of growth hormone by the pituitary gland decreases progressively with age. Starting after adolescence, secretion of growth hormone steadily declines until the amount present in older people is a small fraction of younger levels, often less than 10%. This is one cause of many adverse effects of aging, including the following:

1) 5% increase in fat with each 10 years of life

2) Decreases in muscle strength, skin thickness, bone density, physical endurance, mental ability, and immune defenses

3) Skin wrinkles

4) Osteoporosis

5) Alzheimer’s dementia

6) Senility

7) Obesity

8) Fatigue

9) Muscle and organ atrophy

10) And other age-related conditions, which have been reported to improve with HGH replacement therapy.

Benefits reported in published studies include:

15% average decrease in fat.
8% average increase in muscle and lean body structures.

Improved skin texture resulting in a more youthful appearance.

Fewer skin wrinkles.

Increased bone density, reversal of osteoporosis.

Faster healing of any type of injury, fracture, or wound.

Greatly enhanced immunity and resistance to infection.

Enhanced brain function, retention of intellect with aging.

Improvement in Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s syndromes.

Improved sex drive.

Improvement in overall physical and mental well-being.

Improvement in sleep disorders, better quality of sleep.

Improved exercise tolerance.

Improved mineral balance.

Improved mood, with less depression and fatigue.

Improved heart and kidney function.

Interesting how he states that it is good for up to 4 weeks retaing full potency?? as long asit is refridgerated.

and its only good for 24hrs if at room temp. I always thought that it was only good for 48hrs evn in the fridge.

I use bacteriostatic water to keep it clean longer, but maybe its not necessary.
