This is the "real deal".
We can say all the hateful, hurtful things about everyone & every other country. But if this violent act scares you - maybe you should ask "why". If you are enlightened after reading this - good - give God the glory - if it makes you more angry - give the devil his due - if it makes you think - Ive accomplished what I posted this for
PLUR & God Bless!
Recently, we have all been touched by horrific acts of terrorism. As people stared in silent wonder, the question on their minds was the same: Is what I trusted in able to be trusted? I sat and watched the people who were shocked, because they didn't ever think that this could happen. They thought our military was so strong, our weapons so advanced, that the threat of attack was just something we would shrug off. People's very foundations are being shaken. And then the question on some mind's is, "Where was God? Why would He allow such a heinous crime to happen?"
Can I pose another question, to all who profess to be Christians: What did you safely trust in? I have heard for years such statements as, "America is the strongest in military forces. America has the most advanced technology in the weapons war. The American Armed forces can beat any force that comes up against us." We have safely trusted in the American Armed forces and their technology more than we have our God. If we will allow ourselves to be real honest, we have even been arrogant about how bad we are as a nation. Not because we have God! As a matter of fact, we pretty much have asked God not to involve Himself in most of the affairs of our life. We don't want Him in our schools, in our government, or our own morality. No, we want God to sit on a shelf and only come out when we really need Him to help us.
It sounds like what the children of Israel went through. God had been good to them, just like He's been to America. However, eventually they began to serve other god's. They justified it because they still went to churches, oh I mean temples. They mixed their own ideas, oh I mean idols, with religion. They said they loved Him with their lips, but didn't serve Him with their hearts. And God allowed the enemy to come in and run their land.
The Bible says that He shows us goodness unto repentance. I think we can say that God has been good to America, very good. But we have not really repented. There are those who claim to be Christians, but they are giving God lip service. They don't want to do what he says, but they want him to protect them. And there are those who are in church faithfully, but they refuse to do want God has called them to do. We find that money, partying, lust, anger, etc... have become gods, not only to those who don't know God, but even in the house of God. This is a call to repentance, God asks us, "What have you safely trusted in?"
Think of Jericho, from the Book of Joshua. Jericho had a wall around the city, a fortress that would not be torn down my hands. They didn't think they had anything to worry about, they trusted in that wall. I mean, come on, it was a big wall. They didn't have missiles or any other type of high tech weapon that would tear that thing down. So they safely trusted in this wall, no one would be able to come up against them. And just when they were laughing at the Israelites for saying that they were going to take the land of Jericho, they found out that they had a God that parted Red Seas. They got a little nervous, but not enough to move them. But this people, who were only armed with God, cried out to God, God tore down those walls and they possessed the land.
God is sick and tired of His people turning away from Him. He asked the question to the Israelites, and I believe to us, "What iniquity (sin) have you found in me?" In other words God asks, "What have I done to you, besides try to be good to you, that you would turn away from me and trust in something else?" When America trusted more in weapons and armed forces, they made it a god. When we trust more in our pay check than God, it's a god. When we think what we want is more important than what God says, it becomes a god.
So if you are wondering, "Where was God? Why did He allow this to happen?" You should check your heart and ask yourself where did you ask God to be. You should ask yourself, did you serve and trust Him, or did you serve yourself and trust in another god? Repentance and putting God as the head is the answer!
