Got my first speeding ticket! Need Advice

46 in a 35, cop was nice about it but I always thought they'd give you a warning before your first ticket. I really dont know if I was going that fast and I have to appear in front of hte county clerk her ein Lubbock within 12 days. Is there any chance at all they will dismiss it? The cop made a mistake on the ticket, he labeled my car as tan when it's really silver but all the other info was right. Could he have just radared the wrong car since he put down a different color than mine was?

why would i want to defer it, wouldn't i just want to pay it quick and take defensive driving? I didnt get a court date, they just told me to see the clerk within 12 days.

i just recently received a 76 in a 50 and well i gotta go to court. I shoulda taken off like every other time. but no i was ebing good and slowed down when i saw him

Appeal the ticket and and when you go to court ask to have it dismissed cause of previous good driver and that this was your first ticket, more then likely they'll dismiss it!!!

my borther has a good friend whos a lawyer and he got rid off couple of tickets for me and both were like 10-20 miles over the speed limit

the way he did it was that he had some evidence that those radars have errors or something and the tickets automaticly get dismissed, and I was in the courtroom when he was representing 6 people 5 of which were all in there for speeding and one case where he didnt win cause the woman didnt stop on a stoplight or something, anyway rest of them that got the ticket for speeding were outta there in about 10 minutes after he just read something out of his book and judge was okay, dismissed...

while I was in the courtroom there was a guy in there whos ticket was dismissed cause there was a mistake on the ticket..

anyways I've gotten 6 tickets but 2 of them were dismissed and tahnks to my lawyer now I can still drive

i've tried to fight the ticket myself too but it never worked

LOL! SO normally you floor it and try to get away?

take safety driving course. one offense every year will be erased when you complete cost and actually decreases insurance as ticket goes away. doing this again as i got pulled over and my last offense was more than a year ago.

LOL! So, you're the car in the police chases I see.

why do people say they have to appear in court? i've gotten two speeding tickets before and all i did was mail in the payment. the only thing that i can see good about going to court is to set a date for deffensive driving

its probobly cause you can get the ticket off your records by going to court and not get your license suspended? thats the case for me and not wanting to pay few hundred bucks for a ticket

my advice, ask for a point reduction in place of a defensive driving class or higher fine. Your insurance bill will thank you. You might be able to get it knocked down to no point violation, try for that. and get a radar detector, its saved me a efw times...

i've never been threaten with having my liscense suspended nor have i gotten a ticket for more than $25

Alright, I think ill probably go the defensive driving route. I dont really understand the point system.

Do you have "postponement for dismissal" in Texas? You pay a fee, and if you don't have any movement violations within the next year the ticket never goes on your record.

i think thats like deferred adjudication, where you're put on probation after paying for the ticekt and if you dont get any more tickets during the probationary period, the ticket doesn't get put on your record.

thats what i say, just pay it. i've gotten pulled over six times. the first three times i wasnt given any tickets just a warning

your insurance goes up and hmm after like 5 tickets your license are suspended

at least thats the way it is in my state

hmm must be why i said 'the only thing that i can see good about going to court is to set a date for deffensive driving'

I've gotten 2 tickets off my record simply by writing a letter of apology instead of actually going to court. I believe you usually have that option.

I popped my speeding cherry a few years ago. Was doing 45 in a 15, swear to this day that the light wasn't blinking to indicate it was 15 mph for that time. I mailed the ticket in, and got it back a few days later. Cop friend of the family made it disappear.
