good rec. on a wine

A good girlfriend of mine is turning 21 next week. I want to buy her a good wine for us to celebrate with. Can anyone recommend a good white or red? Price is really not an issue as long as it doesn't exceed $150 or so. Karma to those who help. Thanks.:)

Cab/Merlot blend...Black Opal...

Kendall Jackson Reserve Merlot...

Two of my favorites.

Hess select in the red bottle is a cheaper cab that is great. It's the best bang for the buck.

thanks for two solid choices. karma was given. now i'll just have to guess which she would like better.

thanks. do you know what it runs for a bottle?

Around $100 for the napa
they have an Alexander Valley also $80. Good wine but not worth the money. Robert Madovi special reserve is good also.

What will you be having for dinner? If she isn't a wine guru ger a bottle of blackstone merlot. Great table wine. $20

Coppola Clarret is good also. $25

Pinot is populat in the summer. Really any brand of Pino Grigio will do. Not much taste difference between the $50 and the $10.

If you are going out to a nice place to eat bring your own bottle. they will charge you a corking fee, but you save money. Prices almost double in the resturaunts.

If it were me and the girl isn't a huge wine drinker go with the Blackstone Merlot not the Cab. It is mildly fruity, buy still has a punch to it. Goes good with about anything like steak and heavier meals.
Hope this helps.
