I have a Olympus something-or-nother that I've lost track of because I've been using my girlfriend's Canon Powershot 4.0

The Canon kicks my Olympus' ass. So I'd recommend anything Canon.

Sony Mavica or any camera that uses floppy disks or CD's to store images, not memory sticks/etc. which are a total pain in the ass.

barf on the floppy disks! that won't hold anything.

It would be nice to have one that worked with a CDR, but I'm pretty sure that's expensive

I am thinking of buying another digital camera... which one do you guys recommend, as far as quality and picture quality go? I would like one with a zoom preferably... I can spend around $250-$350 on it.

Thanks

I got a KodakeasyshareDX4900..4.0 megapixels..around $400...I also have a high quality printer that allows me to print high quality photos...Hpphotsmart 7550..

A floppy disk will hold between 10-25 photos, depending on the resolution you set it at. Also, some of those Mavicas do have built in memory (prob. 32 MB), so if you forgot your disks, you could still get through the night.

Another advantage to floppy disks is that they are incredibly cheap. You can pick up 10 for a few dollars. You fill a disk, just pop another disk in. But with a flash/memory camera, once you fill that mutha, you can pay the $50-100 for another memory unit, or you're done taking pictures (or you have to delete ones you've taken to take more)

I have a kodac DX4330 and I absolutely love it....
3.1 megapixels... Its about $430 Cnd.. so that is about $2 US.. lol
Actually, it would probably fit right into your price range...

Considerations:

cost
Size
pixels
media(flashcard, stick..)
user software
options(movieclips, bw...)

What are your needs? Prophotographer or everyday just want a good picture I can blow up. Number of pics, with a 128mb card at 2mp youll get way over 100 shots. How many do you expect to take? Problem today is that there are so many options that 8 out of 10 people probably never use them but pay for them.
Im a Canon Elph series fan. Shirt pocket sized, easy to use with powerful options. Dont need a 4-5 mega pixel. Dont like waiting 20minutes or more for a 8x11 blow up print that doesnt look much better than a 2mp blow up. Have had it 2 years and still dont want a "better" one.

I like my Sony Cyber-shot, 3.3 mega pixels, 6x zoom. There's a newer one out, but it would be more money. This one was around $600 a couple of yrs. ago, so it should fit into your budget now. This one also has the mpeg movie clips, timer, red-eye reduction flash, and a bunch of other stuff that I haven't messed with yet. I used to have a sony that used floppies...it was good, but having to carry around a bunch of floppies got anoying.

I've been looking at the Fujifilm 3800. It's 3.2 MP with a 6x optical zoom. Be careful when looking at zooms, digital zoom is worthless, just look at optical zoom. The Fuji 3800 retails for about $350.
