Depends on the individual. Contemporary: tell them what to do. That's why they asked. Youngin': general, parable maybe, let them see the light. Problem solving is a lost art these days it seems.

I try to determine which way they are leaning in the decision if I can.
And then come up with advice that is good IMO, yet not so far out from their mindset that they say "F That Noise"

I just tell them my best opinion or how I view it and then I even tell them other ways to look at it if I myself know the other ways- I go off what I research and gain over time.

I tend to be honest and fairly blunt and tell the person asking what I really think. With close friends and family the bluntness comes out more. If it's someone I don't know well, I hold back a bit more.

When I give advice I try to take into account what I know about that person, how they handle things, etc. Different people hear things differently, so you have to be careful how you say something, so it's not misinterpreted.

I'm only saying that because I've seen lots of breakup and mend ups that turn into WORSE breakups.

So, when a couple calls it quits and gets back together, I usually say the previous statement.

Depends on how schooled they are mentally and emotionally.

If they have a clue and just want input, I give them my advice and leave it at that, trusting them to make the right decision.

If they are "lost" and clearly need a roadmap, I tell them specifically what to do.

If I take the time out to help them and they don't take my advice, they'd better not come back crying when things are even more fucked up.....

i wear a badge that says "dont ask questions youre not going to like the answers to, and be warned, my favorite pasttime is to say "i told you so"

i just tell people what i think. "i dont know all the details, but from what i can see, in my opinion....<drop bomb after bomb after bomb>.......and this is why i think it....<drop more bombs>..."
