I can't separate the subject from that scene in the Life of Brian, where John Cleese is trying to whip a rabble of women wearing fake beards into shape and ends up getting stoned himself.
in some arabic countries they just throw a few pebbles at you then shoot you. this is seen as more humane
but yes. a public stoning is seen to be the ultimate humilition as u get a public drawn out death

pebbles and then shooting? thats a fuckin' cop out... if you are gonna stone somebody to death you should use baseball sized rocks and have to stand at least 30 feet away so its some sort of challenge....
oh its usually a pit, thenm tied up in the centre, and then srtones thrown in until the are severely bludgeoned to death

The style of stoning depends on a few things, the town and the frequency of stoning sentences.
Some towns that are draconian will have stoning circles.
Most simply surround the victim and throw rocks until the person stops moving, then the more heartless finish them off with some big rocks to the skull.

Actually certain stoning ceremonies involve burying the person up to their waist in dirt, wrapping them in a white sheet and then providing rocks that are not big enough to kill but are big enough to hurt like hell. The person usually just bleeds to death due to the many head lacerations.

That's a horrible way to die...Along with drowning and being eaten alive by a shark. There was a movie my English teacher made us watch back in highschool about some town lottery. It was some sort of tradition or something to pick a name and stone a person for a good planting season. I thought the movie was disturbing, they took some mother and all of a sudden after she was called everyone turned against her. Then you saw rock after rock thrown by all her former friends as she was killed by these rocks.

Running electricity through someone while they shit and piss all over themselves and their head catches fire isn't that much better (although I would guess it's a tad bit quicker-- but smells much worse)

I feel bad for this lady. Poor thing must be scared to death. That is another reason I think islam sux. Jesus wouldn't have had her stoned, He would have forgiven her and told her to go and sin no more. I can't see anybody would want to be a Muslim compared to a Christian.
