Fyxgel2..........Why do you hate cops?

I posted this in the other thread, but I think I'll post it here too, since it sums up my feelings on the subject pretty well:

---------------------------------------------------------------------------

I just hate the whole principle, of some officer, having the right to handcuff you and throw you in the back of their car (legally) even if you havent done anything wrong.

Or the power to search through your shit, your car, or even get a warrant and search through your house. They never put anything back.

And then the whole deal with speeding tickets. That is bullshit, and no one should take away from an individual's freedom to drive how they want to.

And I hate how you have to be all cordial with them. And sit in your car, and let them talk down to you like they are your daddy. And if you even try to get out of your car, they will try to kick the door in.

And the way they always demand you to turn off your engine when they pull you over and shit like that.

The way they act all cocky when they deal with you, and how they are just plain rude to people.

Cops suck. The world should just fend for themselves. Or if we are going to have cops in our society, they should just learn to stick to chasing down murderers and robbers, fuck worrying about traffic laws, and also they should learn to give the general public a little more decency.

Decency is good. You shouldnt arrest someone or bust into their home until you are positive they have done something wrong. Granted a few more criminals might get away scott free if cops loosened up like this, but I think it would be better overall for society.
----------------------------------

I suppose I also dislike them because I've had a few bad experiences with them (incase you couldnt tell, lol)

been there, done that. that's what lawyers are for. it sucks, it's a pain in the ass.

there always has to be a reason for them to do this, and it has to be justified. while i don't necessarily agree with it, a cop doing this without a valid reason will get his ass in a sling. been there, done that.

i do drive fast on the highways. my normal highway speed is 85mph, and yes, i can be ticketed for that. i am still passed by many cars even at this speed. the thing with speeding is that you could be putting someone else's life at risk that has nothing to do with how you are driving.

so by you saying that no one should take away someone else's freedom to drive how they want, you have to remember that you could be taking away someone else's freedom to LIVE.

And I hate how you have to be all cordial with them. And sit in your car, and let them talk down to you like they are your daddy. And if you even try to get out of your car, they will try to kick the door in.

i am always respectful to cops because they are doing a job that puts their lives at risk on a daily basis. i respect that, even if they are being an asshole towards me. a little respect goes a long way. some cops you won't change by giving them all the respect in the world, but the same goes with anyone in your life.

And the way they always demand you to turn off your engine when they pull you over and shit like that.

of course they want you to. they don't want to have to deal with someone taking off and now they're in a high speed chase. what if they pull someone over, let them leave the car running, they run the person's license and find out that he/she has kidnapped someone or is running on a warrant? the cop has no clue who you are when they pull you over. as far as they are concerned, you could be a murderer on the run. why should they chance it?

The way they act all cocky when they deal with you, and how they are just plain rude to people.

see above about being respectful.

not all cops are bad. some are, but not all. they need to protect their own lives out there. i used to feel the same way you do, but as i've gotten older, i've realized that they do things that i wouldn't want to do. i give them respect as they do deserve that respect. put yourself in a cop's shoes and rethink some of what you've said. it might give you a better perspective on your feelings.

A friend of mine was recently in a diner with some friends. They were arguing with a group of people in the booth behind them. There were a few cops nearby, eating, and they came over and told everyone to calm down, etc. They began arguing with my friend, and finally, he just says okay, okay, I won't say another word. The one cop grabs his arm, and he pulls away. Then all three gang up on him, and handcuff him. One of the cops proceeds to repeatedly drive a knee into his face, enough to fracture his cheek.

He didn't do shit to deserve that. Fucking pricks.

I wonder what the cops would say happened.

hope your friend knows a good lawyer, especially if there were enough witnesses.
