Depends.. I agree on that, the funny thing is, that's what they in turn think of Americans, and the English. They are very hard to conversate with.. Luckily, I speak French pretty well, so it's not so hard on me. If you speak French with them for awhile, and get stuck, they will eventually speak English with you. They all don't know English though and the majority who do speak English.. It is not very good.. I always look at it this way.. We're going there.. and for me.. if they come to the States.. Shit, if they're English is bad.. How do they get around.. There's not vast majority of Americans who speak french. English is the international language of Business.. But it is respectful to a culture to try and speak a little of the language unless you know nothing. I always found in the first months, if I was polite, and used the Basic hello, I would like.. thank you.. please.. everywhere I went I was accepted more kindly. Now I can have a conversation in French, and it's like I live here. They can be nice in some cases, like mine, where I live here, and know a certain number of resteraunts and bars where they know me by name.. Can be very friendly people on that level.
