if you switch needles after drawing, do you not purge the drawing needle back into the vial and just purge the needle you're injecting with? if you do this, i assume you loose a drop or 2, is this amount significant?

no not signifigant, when you draw, you can pull needle out, draw it back it bit more until air comes in, now the needle is empty. Install new needle, cap it, then get air out, if the drop sticks to top of needle, just leave it there for lubrication.
