i was just sitting here with nothing better to do and was thinking what the general public (you guys n gals) feel about your furure...

are you watching your money more now?...are you worried about losing your job?,,,,are you saving money or are you living life just like you did before 9-11?...are you worried about a bio or chemical attack or other terrorist attacks?


well if you answered no one or all of these you are making a mistake.....

let me give my opinion about a couple of these and keep in mind its only my opinion and you know what they say about opinions...

terroist attacks. what happened in NY is nothing compared to a few other things they could attack us with..anthrax, sarin, briefcase nukes....ps..dont drink the water

now the economy....lets see how can i put this....hmmmmmm oh i got it....WE ARE FUCKED!...

the ripple affect world wide will hit a trillion dollars...just in two weeks the airlines alone have let go 100's of thousands of workers....everything has slowed to a crawl....the next shoe to drop will be the real estate market to fall apart....

now for the stock market which is what i do for a liviing for the last dozen years......hey just click on cnbc and each day you will here this is the bottom...let me make something very clear to you...THERE IS NO BOTTOM...you wont see this market rebound to a new high for several years....in fact i see the dow falling below 7k and the nasdq to a 1000 or below.....you will see companies closing left and right...the gov bailout for the airlines is enough to get them throulg a month....soon you will see some of them file BK.....you here these fucking crooks on cnbc say to be patriotic and BUY the market..well when mom and pop are taking their advice and buying into this market these fuckers are selling all the shares they can...

for myself i will admit im shorting this market on every rally i can,,,,it is what it is....the stock market is 100% pure manipulation being operated by crooks....you here we may end up in a recession....might be in a recession?...we have been in a recession for two fucking years now....but now things are a bit different...we are headed into a very bad recession...

my point to all this.....watch your money folks and watch your back...because things are about to get real bad...

dont be speechless my friend start covering your ass...cut back on your spending is my number one tip to all of you....i deal with the economy day and night and i know what is coming down the pipe....yesterday before the market closed i shorted MU (micron tech) at 21$..they were releasing their earnings after the market closed..now for those of you who dont know what shorting is....you sell a stock you dont own to buy it back later at a lower price....just the flip side to a regular stock trade ie..buy low sell high....shorting is sell high buy low...well MU posted a a loss of $575.5 million, or 96 cents a share, compared with net income of $726 million, or $1.28 a share, a year ago.


i covered the stock at 17.5 for a + 3 1/2 points...


trust me guys things are going to get real bad not only in the states but world wide.....

as for more attacks well shit who knows and not much we can do about it.....but as for the economy please take my words to heart my friends..im not telling you this to spread fear....start watching your spending habits and cut back...i work for myself so i dont have to worry about getting laid off but as for you folks i would start watching for signs around your company that things may be getting bad to where they will start letting people go....they wont warn you...one day you will just get that pink slip....

I dont agree, my opinion

I don't think the country is going into a recession, just a period of economic slowdown. If and I mean only if the total impact on the entire world is 1 trillion dollars, the US will still be fine. The US has a 10.7 or maybe it was 11.7 trillion dollar economy. None the less that's still roughly 10% loss on the economy. Yes, the market has gone to crap but that's about it for now, except the airlines. Yes, it will have a slight domino effect of other sectors of the economy. The problem here is do you really think people will quit working and quit buying things, NO. Its going to be hard for some mom and pop type stores to make it but that happens everyday. People still need food, clothes, automobiles, gas, etc. They will not stop buying the basic necessities let alone other goods and services not vital to every day survival. Let everything and everyone for that matter calm down in the next 6 months and then lets take another look and see where we stand. This almost reminds me of everyone that got off on the whole millennium thing. Many people thought the economy would die, no banks, no money, you get the idea. I understand this is total different except that you have the media making big stories about the aftereffects just like they did for y2k.

Another thing so far only the airlines have laid off some employees due to the attacks. These other companies that have mentioned downgrading the total number of employees where planing on doing so before the attack.

Again this is only my opinion and 0.02 worth.

The number of people making new US unemployment benefit claims soared by 58,000 to a nine-year high of 450,000 last week, the Labor Department said Thursday.

The total, the highest number since the week ended July 25, 1992, exceeded Wall Street analysts' expectations for a figure of 440,000 in the week to September 22.

It is hard to quantify the impact of the September 11 terrorist attacks on New York and Washington, a Labor Department spokeswoman said. But she added that the number of new claims had surged 11,000 in raw figures in New York state.

Ditto. That's also good for me, since I am a mechanic. On top of that, I work for a small, family run business. Further, I am paid purely commission, so if the business isn't doing all that well, then I just don't get paid all that well, but at least I don't lose my job. But yeah, you are right. people need all these things regardless of the times, as they are the basic necessities.

Yes the markets have lost a shit load of money. I agree with you on this MOD it aint over yet. But remember nothing backs the american dollar, except GOD, hence in god we trust. SO I dont think the US economy is going to go to complete crap. Also there were many problems with the economy before the towers, that day just helped speed up the process of current problems becoming huge problems. It will calm down, I think by next summer. All your companies are going to miss the 3,4,and 1st quarter results. After that I think the press, market, and all the worried people will start to calm down. There is no way in hell our 11 trillion dollar economy will go to shit. Its just going to be some hard times for certain people. Drive around you still see new buildings being built every day, someone had to spend money to pay for the new building. America went into a recession a long time ago (before my time) and the unemployment rate dropped to 25%, I dont think it will do this again, I dont think it will top 10 to 14%. I think there are 250 million americans.

I enjoy reading this post. I really like the fact not one member has replied in a negative way. For example saying someone was total wrong and that they should shut up because they don't agree. After looking at the chat board and reading many posts with opinions in it I just thought it was nice to see everybody getting along stating there own opinions. This is just my opinion.
