For Finasteride Users:

It has come to our attention in the past several years that the use of finasteride has lead to persistent sexual side effects even after cessation of the drug for years. The complete cause of how finasteride triggers these side effects is still unknown. The drug mechanism blocks the alpha 5-reductase enzyme (ar5 enzyme). This enzyme is essential in the conversion of testosterone into dihyrdotestosterone (DHT). People suffering from this drug have noticeably disrupted hormonal profiles, however there have been some who have reported normal hormonal profiles, which leads us to believe for some the issues maybe deeper then hormonal imbalances.

Some of the reported problems, which did not exist prior to taking finasteride and have not, gone away after cessation of the drug are:

* Erectile Dysfunction
* Penile Changes (narrowing, shrinkage, curving, tougher penile tissue etc)
* Lack of Emotions
* Difficulty Focusing
* Lacking Motivation
* Penis Feels "disconnected" from head or body
* Lowered Confidence
* Watery Ejaculate
* Weight Gain
* Persistent or Unexplainable Fatigue
* Loss of Libido
* Reduced Ejaculate
* Inability to Ejaculate/Orgasm
* Lowered body temperature
* Cramps

Listed are some of the more common problems amongst sufferers.

We believe the information presented by Merck is grossly understated with less then 2% of men using the drug having experienced sexual difficulties. In reality, the percentage of sufferers is much greater and the incidence of long-term suffering is adamantly ignored.

For some inhibiting the ar5 enzyme somehow throws the entire system out balance, and the body becomes unable to find that balance even after the drug is out of the system.

DHT has gotten a bad name that it does not deserve. Why put a man on this drug without doing some hormone levels any way? Why doesn't the medical community talk more about the prevalence of Estrogen related prostate inflamation?

Reading about the side effects that this and other drugs such as antidepressants, makes me wonder what the FDA is really all about other than big dollars for the drug company execs and their stock holders.

never used it and now never will thanx for the read And have a merry christmas.....Has anyone heard from or know the wherabouts of Lion I'm kinda worried about him i have been away, his profile says he hasn't been on since around thanksgiving????? and what is finasteride isn't it for balding?

Propecia is the trade name for the finasteride that is sold for baldness. I used it in the late 90s for maybe a year and lost my hair anyway. It was prescribed at my request by a well-meaning dermatologist. We did not hormone tests at that time - who would have though??

Skip ahead to today where I have a Total T of 291.

I've used it for 8 years now with no problem . with minoxidil also. stopped my hair from falling out. i do have a head full of hair. i had a vasectomy 8yrs ago also so it's difficult to say if my reduced ejc is caused by either. but there is a slight wateryness to it. as for the other problems i have not exp any of those. i'm 53
