A good friend of mine is trying to apply to the NY state troopers, but he is having a problem. He did really well on the exam, placed 5th out of 10,000 + appllicants. What he is worried about is this: he has been arested twice on DUI, but never convicted, he had his record pulled by the military (current job) and it didn't show anything about these arrests, he has yet to take the polygraph and he was wondering should he lie and say he was never arrested and risk a bad reading on the machine, or should he be honest and hope they take into consideration that he was never convicted on either DUI. He also has done a recent cycle of Dbol and is sweating that too, basically he is sweating his ass off about the poly......any suggestions..thanks in advance.

this question was raised here in Canada with a lawyer trying applying for judge. He was convicted 20 years ago for a stupid offence but received the mercy from the attorney general. Didnt tell the truth during the interview. Supreme Court 2 weeks ago decided that he couldnt become a judge for this specific reason. Personnally I would just tell the truth. Thats what I did for minor offences done when i was 14. I got no probs with them.

what if they know about it before the polygraph? then hed lie about it and be totally fuked, he should tell the truth.

yeah i told his dumbass to tell the truth too, but seems to think he can get by the Poly, but if not, you are right he will be fucked........(where the hell is Chesty)

Arrested is not convicted.

Innocent until proven guilty. NYS troopers should know that.

He should tell teh truth.

well for lawyers if the crime involves one of moral turpitude you are fucked, ( yeah i know let the jokes flow) but for a cop, or a lawyer a dui is not a big deal, as long as he went to 12 step meetings aa/na and has freinds in the meetings to prove his sobriety, then he should be fine

the fake out the polygraph stuff does not work on Law enforcement jobs. They will not hire you if they cannot make any conclusions. he must tell the truth. they will already know about the arrests. The key word in law enforcement is integrity. they may not even ask about arrests on the poly. each examiner asks different questions before the poly you fill out a questionere and if he lies on that too he is screwed. LE hates liars

FUCK THE TRUTH!!! it cost me a job as a richmond police officer... FUCK THE TRUTH!!!!

well usually if they have a halfway decent background invetigator he will find most stuff out and any kind of police contact you have ever had when they ran your ID is in the data base as a contact so lying won't help

He will have to tell the truth!!!!!!!!!!!

No way out of it!!!!!!!!!!

He wasn't convicted thats all that matters He will be fine as long as he tell the truth!!!!!!!!!!

Tell him good luck and enjoy trainning.LOL

I beg to differ. Peer-reviewed studies have shown the ability of those with even minimal training in polygraph countermeasures to fool experienced examiners.

You really need to learn more about the polygraph process. In order to "pass," one must actually lie (or at least not be fully confident in the truth). Furthermore, the polygraph examiner (who is usually a law enforcement officer) is the biggest liar of them all.

Still, only he can make these decisions. I don't think that the DWI arrests will be that big of a deal (if he was found not guilty). Furthermore, they are likely to find them anyway. On the other hand, the AS usage may give him problems if he admits it.

tell your boy that G. Bush, was also arrested on a DUI charge. i believe it is best to tell the truth. you say that it didn't show on his record history, but there is a possibility that they could be withholding the info to see if he would fess up. i would be skeptical on this not showing up on his history. they do a thorough check. if he did not pay an attorney to get this permanently erased (i forgot exactly what this is called) then the DUI incident is somewhere in the database. i can assure you of this. tell your boy i said Good Luck !

What you are looking for is expunged records and even if you had a charge expunged they still want to know about it and on your application , not after you filled it out with a lie and then during the polygraph suddenly tell the truth! If the investigator is worth a damn he will go into a complete check and leave no stone unturned. If you get caught lying your integrity is fucked in their eyes and what would you do once you were on the force, lie, cheat, steal, rob drug dealers etc....they have seen enough departments go down in flames because the hiring process did not weed out the NUT CASES WHO MANY TIMES MAKE IT TO THE STREETS AND I KNOW SEVERAL IN FLORIDA WHO WERE ON THE WRONG SIDE OF THE LAW FOR YEARS AND STILL MANAGED TO GET ON THE FORCE. The dui thing is going to hurt you because 2 non convictions looks like you may have a substance problem to them but let them know the circumstances surrounding the cases and you MAY be just fine!! The d-bol question will open a new can of worms and they are going to want to know how often you used and who you got it from and if you ever sold the stuff and on and on because you are using a substance that is DRUGS IN THEIR MIND and they may worry about you being agressive and they sure as hell do not want some drugged up cop out on the streets who will turn into a liability and cost the department its clout with the community!!!! good luck
