For all you computer techies in here

Have any of you gotten the new P4 2.53ghz processors yet? I ordered mine over the weekend. My S/O ordered his about 2 weeks ago, put together his new system and OMG, does this thing smoke! I cannot wait to get mine!:D

Just wanted to hear another person's experience with the new cpu's coming out.:)

newest always means the most expensive.
usually one step down is marginally slower and significantly cheaper.

and like NA said, the athlon does better floating point and is more efficient at cache usage at the size that it has and the data it uses (Intel allows a greater memory bandwidth, but due to current processor design limitations can't make use of all of it anyway).

and they are cheaper.

both run very hot and use lots of power.

yippe.
I want a geforce4

happy scrappy, i don't like the Geforce4 i have and actually prefer my Geforce 2 mx 64meg OC'd.

then again my Geforce4 is only the Geforce4 TI 4200 model....

My friend has one. He says it's awesome... then I pointed out that he doesn't play computer games anymore and he felt kind of silly.

I have the Geforce 2 mx 64 and it is decent for the stuff I use.

I don't really play games much, instead I'm more interested in programming for it. that is why I want the newest greatest stuff, so that I can play with all the features of it.
doesn't matter too much at this point since I'm not that good at opegl or directx yet, but learning :)

ah, yeah the GF2MX64 plays counterstrike at excellant fps and res so im a happy camper, and it will play quake 3, i have run some benchmarks on it and it seems to do ok, and i have it cooled to run almost at regular operating temp :D

What is that kind of CPU good for in a personal computer? I could understand if you were using the computer for number crunching or graphics, but on a personal computer, the CPU will be held back by the disk IO, RAM, bus, and video subsystem. If you are using a CPU like that to play games, you are wasting your money. You'd be better off getting a newer video card.

i think athlons are shit, ive had 5 or them and next time i will go with intel, not even intel but a brand name computer!

The P4 2.53ghz processor uses a board with 533 bus speed. Intel makes one and I will never ever use off brand boards again. Mine came in last night. Got it up and smokin in no time. Course I am using 1gig worth of RAM also so that might help. Graphics card is ATI all-in-wonder 64mb. Yes, it is alot for a home computer but I have fun with it and I am just into things like this. Most women have the latest and greatest in makeup, clothes, etc. I have the latest in technology. :D

I've been waiting months to get my hands on a ti4200. They should finally be here today or tomorrow. Finally, I can ditch my gefore2 mx 200!

Newer games, ie. Medal of Honor, run like ass on my comp, even though everything else on my comp is high-end.
