For 80s kids - Do you remember this?

BIG WHEELs baby, the best form of transportation for kids of the 80s (that and when you got old enough, bikes with banana seats and streamers!!) ...

Ok I'll admit it...I had several BIG WHEELS...always broke them...go figure. Of that was before I learned to ride a bike. After that it was ON!!!

NO STREAMERS THOUGH!!!

i had a tricylce once....looked a bit like the shining one

now 80's fashion over here were spokes....you got bits of coloured plastic and stuck them on your spokes...i think they were called spokey dokeys.....so camp <shudder>

are you talkin about those little round plastic things that would go up and down your spokes while you were riding??

CAMP - i luv your terms!!! Have to learn a complete new english to get some of your words. hahahah

:D

I had a GI JOE Big Wheel, dark green......cant remember what happenedto it.....but then I switch for a BMX bicycle....

DUDE I HAD KNIGHT RIDER TOO!!! I loved mine so much that when I got a bike I still road my bigwheels around. But alas it wasn't but a few short months before I out grew the thing. Anyone ever try to ride a bigwheels after they get about 5 feet tall? It just isn't physically possible. I have a little cousin and I tried to ride hers now that I am 6'4" (cause no one picks up the babes like a guy on a bigwheels) anyway to make a long story short it didn't work, but the 3 yearold got a good laugh out of it so it's all good.

I had a "green machine" and a whole host of big wheels.

Who here used to try and ride on two wheels the farthest??

I was the champ in my neighborhood. heh.

Who lit theirs on fire when they got older... come on.

##spiderbaby##

I had a couple, I used to have a friend that I called Night Rider cause he was always on his night rider bigwheel

I always thought Big Wheels kicked ass, but when I was small enough to ride one, my parents didn't have the money. Always wanted the Dukes of Hazzard one tho...

I'm a huge 80's fan...wearing one of my Autobot shirts right now... :D

I thought you were gonna say/show a Pogo ball when I opened this thread. . .

My veeks in the 80's was a skateboard with 'cool' graphics on it and Vision stickers I bought and stuck to the bottom even though the board was some generic brand.

memory lane. lovin' it. Not sure which big wheel I had but I know I had to get a new one every 2 or 3 months cuz the wheels always broke down the middle. Love the pee wee herman streamers pic. I just watched the movie again a few weeks ago and felt like a kid again. Later

HELL YEA!!! Big Wheels ruled! (not the pink ones though) I also had a green machine... anyone remember those???

umm these were out in the 70's...maybe evne earlier....they only came in red and blue when they first cmae out...or was it blue and yellow??
I had a green machine...it was my cousins..

those big wheels where the coolest. On a rainy day i would hall ass down the sidwalk and use that big power brake on the back and spin out. those were the days:D

Gilly - I had a green macine too! Those damn levers you had to steer with caused more scrapes and bruises than anything else in my childhood. I could never master them properly. But hey, if you had a greenmachine....you were KOOOL!

I had the famous green machine too. great memories. keep this thread going. do you remember " slime" the goo with the plastic worms in it ? or what about transformers. great cartoon.

I went from the big wheel to the moto-cross bike. It looked like an actual motorcycle. complete with gas tank and shocks!
Thats right your jealous!
Coyote

I liked Care Bears, Strawberry Shortcake dolls, My Little Pony, playing Amok on the Commodore 64. We had Tonka Trucks in our backyard, I had a bike with streamers and a sparkly (green) banana seat too, but the blue ten speed I got for Christmas one year was way cooler! There's a black and white video lying around my best friend's basement someplace, of me at 10 years old wearing her mother's black lace DD bra lip synching to Like A Virgin, that she recorded with her somethingorother 2000 camera... I forget what it was called but it was coooool. She always had the best stuff.
Anyone remember La La Land music videos? You could make your own music video, with funky backgrounds, you'd record your voice and then lip synch to it in a studio... We did Walk Like an Egyptian...
Same friend has that one too. I swear, she's gonna blackmail me with them one day.

right on with the wrestling saturday mornings. The sheik, Hulk Hogan, Andre the Giant, Rick the Dragon steamboat (??), King Kong Bundy, Jake the Snake, Rick Flair. Oh and how about that crazy promoter dude with the crazy shades and shiny ass blazers.

I think I pre-date the big wheel -- does anyone remember the Cheetah? It was like the big wheel but had push pedals instead of the regular pedals? We're talking circa 1975 I think....

I HAD A BIG WHEEL THAT HAD HANDLES YOU PULLED TO MAKE IT SPIN OUT..

Skateboards towed behind a bike reallly fast
Lawn jarts
Smear the queer (AKA kill the man with the ball)

Kick the Can..
One Day at a time with Valerie Bertinelli.. 70's ??

My Hero Zero
Grammer Rock
Multiplication rock

Mighty Mouse

Woody Woodpecker

Dukes of Hazard then Dallas every friday night

marco polo in the pool

pop rocks(Don't drink them with coke, thats how mikey died)

Sno cones from the ice cream man

plastic skateboards

Would look for nipples showing on woman in the Sears catalog and then precede to shake one off to them in a matter of 30 seconds to a minute tops.

Music station on cable would not have videos but psychedelic lines going through the t.v.

No power wheels???

B True

Got news for ya all of you youngsters...

the heyday of the bigwheel was actually in the 70s...with some spill-over into the 80s.

We had all the cool toys in the 70s. Later they got dumb. I'm pissed.

LOL!!! You must be exactly my age, and grew up in my house...hey, are you me?

The only difference in my childhood was that I always got the red, white and blue "rocket" from the ice cream man...and I made the jump to the new and improved, ultra-cool fiberglass skateboard that bent in the middle...

the hippety hop! they love it. they hop all around the house with it. the funniest one is when my 6'5 husband got on it and hopped around the kitchen. well for a very short time then he fell off!:FRlol:

I went through several of those bad boys during my time as an trouble maker. My friends and i would ride them down the hill as fast as we could and then turn the wheel really hard and see how many 360's we could do, that was so fun...too bad the tires were plastic and would start to wear out. But then again thats what parents are for, to buy you a new one of those ever 3 months.

Holy shit I think we grew up in the sam neighborhood. I remember all that stuff wasn't it great. What about pogo balls?

Maybe a bit off of the topic but the best thing in the 80's where the women. Big hair(Aquanet), bigbreasts, big earings, to much make-up, weird skimpy cloths. Damn, took them hours to get ready. Now that's a toy!!!
