Foods to eat cold?

I've started up school again, and I'm there anywhere between 3 and 6 hours a day, plus travel time. Not to mention other stuff.

What I was eating all summer was great, but I always had a microwave handy. Now I don't, but I do have a cute little travel cooler!

Any ideas on what protein rich foods I can take with me, that are edible cold? I'm already taking protein pancakes and whatever egg salad is left over form my post-work breakfast. I've also been taking fruit and Yoplait yogurt. (I know, but it's handy.)

Any ideas? Preferably home-cooked stuff, since things like protein bars are too expensive for me.

I appreciate any thoughts.

A can of tuna is good cold...you just need a can opener and a fork. I used to take hard-boiled eggs and I would buy some steamed white rice from the chinese food place on campus. Cottage cheese is always a good bet too. 12g protein in 1/2 cup.

If you have a cooler, try a rice salad with some mayo and chicken that's a great cold food. Or a sandwich with chicken breast, salad, cheese, mayo...

Personally, for in class foods, I always liked just plain old chicken breasts. Its best if you can grill them (Foreman grill is good if you're in rez) I just grill a few up the night before, wrap them in plastic wrap, refridgerate, and stick them into my bag the next morning. When its meal time, take one out, unwrap, instant meal. No messy sandwich ingredients, and its so easy, you'll wonder why you never thought of it before....

I also like to take MRP's and a shaker cup. Buy a small thingey of milk on campus, shake, and drink.

Tuna is another good one, nice and easy... Only thing is that you gotta keep track of a can opener, and its a pain in the nuts if you get to campus, and realize you left the opener at home.. Ruins your entire day, and you might get an urge to punch out your prof, which is never a good thing......

Another of my favourites is to go to the grocery store and buy ground chicken or turkey. make lil patties out of it, grill, wrap, refridgerate, and take 'em with you! Yet another tasty lil treat. I'd make your own paties though if you can instead of buying pre-formed ones in a box, those ones are usually rammed with other garbage that you don't want/need. Avoid the ground turkey burgers for such classes as Psychology or Finite Math. The extra L-Tryptophan in turkey meat is easily converted to seratonin, which in turn makes you drowsy. In classes like those where I am already prone to nodding off, you don't need anything that is gonna help you on your way to having the professor throw chalk or text books at you to wake you up. :D

The Chinese place is right between the Italian and Indian shops. It gets so busy sometimes.. ;)

Seriously though, I like the cottage cheese, tuna, and sandwich ideas. As it stands, unfortunately, I can't get meat down cold. I can barely get my chicken down at night, and that's steamy and has massive amounts of spice on it.

I'll remember that for my 'statistics for the behavioral sciences' class.

Easy. I just used to open my cans of tuna at home before class, add my condiments, put in a ziplock and eat out of it with a fork. Put cottage cheese in ziplock or protein powder. Fuck lugging tupperware around. Ziplocks fit anywhere, are disposable (no cleaning), and are cheap.

Usualy for me in school
1 apple For carb
1 can tuna in water For Protein
32 oz water spring
And i dont Forget MultiVitamin
