Dose is weight dependent because for BB'ers(normally
anyways), more weight=more muscle, therefore
the higher the need of ALA to reach a therapeutic
effect. Dosage is also carb-dependent, but unless
you eat a very high carb intake it doesn't have to
be raised.
I'm thinking my dose might be too low. I hold my fare share of muscle 9%bf and eat my fare share of carbs...550g a day. As it isn't the cheapest item out there you can understand I'd rather use 1g, but if I need to up it I will. I've used glucophage with 5000cals a day and about died so I'm giving ala a whirl and really havn't been able to asses the results yet.

Yes. ALA is far better at increasing
glucose oxidation and glucose up-take.
At high cals, ALA is the only viable option because
you won't be able to eat much while on
Metformin at high cals.
However, metformin still has its uses. In low-cal diets
it is a god-send because it reduces the rate
of gastric emptying, thus making you feel fulll for longer.
ALA+Metformin for low-cals is by far the best choice as
they complement each other quite well.
