thanks woot... the deeper i get into the cleaning the more i discover i've lost. the suck thing is i'd just took everything out of my daughters room and put it in the corner of my sons room because we were gonna do some tile work yesterday, so everything is ruined... tv, stero system, dvd player.. all her toys, some clothes etc. so fucking frustrating.

frisky sorry to hear about your house and your belongings. i think you should consider moving to somewhere above sea elevation. i heard the north east is nice :verygood:

She does not live in a flood zone. It just so happens that the area that she lives in has some drainage issues. It sucks cause this is the 5th time this happens to her!

As the saying goes... "First time shame on you, second time shame on me."

FIVE times?!?! I don't understand why after repeated heartache over and over and over and over and over again you continually remain in such location. Let me guess, it's not so easy to just pick up and go? Well easy or not, that's what you definitely need to do.

when you own a home its not that easy. You have to try to sell it. How do you explain to potential buyers that the house has flooded 5 times because the citys drainage system is soooo screwed up?

sure shame on me.. but what am i supposed to do? the only way out of this deal is to ditch the house, no one will buy it and im stuck in a mortgage. Its easier said than done.

I know what i need to do and i'll suffer the side effects of it. Sad right now I cant even find an apartment due to the hurricane peeps here from new orleans.

basically, god is telling you to get the fuck out of the backwood slack-jawed primitive society you refer to as cajun country.

You do realize that you will lose financially regardless of ditching the house or keeping it, right? Seems like a loss loss situation at best. Ditching the house and taking the big hit, although scary to do, is probably the wisest move you can make.

The longer you stay there the more you will lose versus taking the loss and getting the heck out. At least that way you can then move on with you life and not have to continually deal with a flooded house.

What happens when hurricane/rain/flood season comes around next time? What prompted you to stay after the 2nd or 3rd floodings anyway??

With each flooding the value of the home (whatever value it has left that is) plummets further and further down, so it's best to take your losses and run.

I can see remaining there after the first flooding, but after the second?? Third?? Fourth??? Fifth??? I don't get it.

i agree, i've decided i can't afford to lose anymore. I've been pulling more and more out of my house today that I've lost. Another few thousand to replace.

I stayed after the others, not even sure why... the city was supposed to have fixed the issues. They assured us it was taken care of.. yea right.

Im in the process of trying to find somewhere to go, and clean up this mess in the meantime so we have somewhere to stay.

I knew it so do you have a double wide sitting on that slab or are you still in the single wide "starter" home

you know you wouldn’t have to leave it behind ... I bet you know somebody (like every guy in town) that has a big ass lifted truck that can tow it to a new site for you ..it would only cost a 6 pack of beer

Do you do any work with the coastline / wetlands?

Louisiana is losing coastline fast!

no i don't.. not sure if you are familiar with the area but i live right on the outside of Lake Dautereve and Bayou Teche.. which is where all this water is supposed to drain. The last i heard when the core was down here the city failed to check the drainage and they had a shit load of bever dams clogging up the drainage. I bet my last fucking dime they haven't cleaned them since then. We got a bit of rain but not enough to have the lake back up.
