First cycle.. how come no more then 10 weeks?

I hear alot on this board that you shouldn't run your first cycle for more then 10 weeks? No one ever gives a reason for this justification though. Any thought?

Longer any cycle goes, the greater the potential for side effects and a more complete supression of natural test. Being a newbie, you presumably are lacking in the side effects combatting and pct departments so it makes sense to limit your exposure. Additionally, you will get better results IMO from 8 weeks on 8 weeks off twice than you will from 16 weeks on and 16 weeks off. Just a dumb example of two ways to spend the same time on gear, but you get the drift. Gains tail off after time and you do better to recharge and solidfy the gains then ramp up again.

First cycle, if you do it right, you will gain the most muscle in the 8 weeks. The body can only put on so much at a time, so extending that cycle would be a waste.

I don't think this advice just applies to newbies, I don't think anyone should go over 10 weeks on, or at least 12. Unless bodybuilding is your job, the potential sides are just not worth it.

Yeah, the sides are horrible, just think of all that muscle growing.

ok.. i have a first cycle coming up in mid march... i have it going 12 weeks... if i find trhat my gains stop after 10 weeks and i only get more sides, then i will stop. but if i gain still a few lbs a week... thats fine

I concur w/ idcbp.

I'd stay with an 8-10 week cycle.......tops.

I did a 5 month cycle once (i know i know) and honestly my body blew up until probably the last 8 weeks I only got stronger. It was VERY difficult to put mass on towards the end. I was running 250/sust/wk. At the time I thought running a longer cycle at a low dose would be better. This was over 2 years ago and I haven't touched gear since. At my most i was weighing 225. Now I weigh about 200-205 at 5'7".
